I have been thinking for a while about becoming a live donor - donating a kidney to someone who needs it etc. Has anyone else signed up for this and how do you do it? To the others would you consider doing this?

What if you need your kidney at some point in your future? Are you really willng to take those kind of risks?

It would basically be (as far as i am aware) i sign up they do tests and if someone needs one and they cant get one that has been donated my someone who has died they would go through the live donor registry.

I assume you dont suffer from depression? Half of the time by brain is telling me I am useless and I wont do anything right and saying whats the point of trying, this dents my confidence by a lot and I think I would prefer to help someone else than to live myself most of the time.

Very noble of you, but probably not the answer to whichever problems you wish to solve.
Give blood, or give flowers to strangers or something. Or as mentioned, donate a chunk of your liver, which would be equally as life savign as a kidney in some scenarios.

Personally, I wouldn't donate my kidney to a stranger. I'm saving it for my father/sister.

If you're wanting to do this and have some form of mental health issue then I suggest you get sorted before making such a big decision

Whilst Organ donation is a noble cause, some just like to make a fat profit out of it, you get stitches and pain, they get the cold hard cash...

I carry a Donor Card and the article above makes me wonder why I do. I'd want anything of mine to go to someone who needs it, putting a price on something given freely is just not on in my book.

Yes I have suffered with depression and a lack of self worth. If you need professional help for your problems, then please go ahead and seek it, but may I recommend that you avoid threads of this nature.

Good luck.
