ASUS MARS BAR

These forums are crazy. The envy factor is incredible.

1. People who have money tend not to have got it by giving it away in handfuls. Just because one can afford to pay list price doesn't mean one should have to.

2. There is a 2.5% charge built into every price in the UK to cover paying by credit card. If you're not paying by credit card then you should be eligible for a 2.5% discount, no? On £2000, that's £50 and therefore worth claiming.

3. If the system you're building will be water-cooled then I'd get 2 x BFG GTX 295 H2OC instead of the three BFG GTX 285 H2OCs as they'll plug straight in whereas you'll need aftermarket blocks for the ASUS MARS cards and I doubt anyone will be making them given the limited production run. Aside from the extra core on the 2 x GTX 295 H2OCs over the 3 x GTX 285 H2OCs, the flow rate will be higher as the effective path length will be shorter and you'll have a wider choice of motherboards as they don't all handle tri-SLI fitment that well.

i brought a watercooled 8800gtx when they first came out and there still a great and powerfull card years later ,so there is no reason why the "mars" wont be the same if not better in years to come.
Considering DX11 cards will be out shortly, both ATI and NVidia are expected to really give a big boost, so no they will not last a few years to come!
and this isnt a thread to make people bite or **** people off ok.
Well you should've thought about this before you posted that build to people who actually use there brain :)

Oh the shame. :o

Wow, someone is actually planning to buy 2 of this cards. Can I over and test out your system when you get it? hehe

are you suggesting buying 2xasus mars is a good advice?

It looks like it's more along the lines of letting a fool and his money part ways. At the end of the day if he wants to blow 2 grand on some hardware that'll be worth £500.00 in 6 months then let him.

I'm responding to the OPs query, not ridiculing him or calling his honesty into question or any of the other nonsense that's been posted.

Hopefully the school holidays will be over soon.

I did suggest 2 x BFG GTX 295 H2OCs as they'll do most of what the MARS will, for a little over half the cost. Still pricey though.

I've blown far more than that every year for the last 10 years or so and I don't see any end to it. No computer equipment is worth anything after a couple of years.

I know people who spend £30 on a game that lasts them a couple of weeks. Or £100 on a night out where they literally urinate their money down the toilet.

What's a more valid way to entertain yourself? Certainly I don't see it as my role in life to judge others for how they spend their money.

I think you may be confused, you seem to have forgotten that this IS the internet you're posting on, what else did you expect?
