The signal thing is most odd. I've just sat here and watched it move from 3 bars to no coverage. In the same position where, last night, I had 5 bars of 3.5g signal.

Oh wait now i've got 4 bars of 2g signal

I get the same problem on Three, and it's only when I seem to need to phone someone that it loses all reception, or just when I open the phonebook :/. It can range from 4 bars on 3.5g to not being able to detect any network at all. That's without moving the phone at all.

It seems that they packed so many features into this phone and totally forgot that we actually do need it to make calls...

Vodafone are now sending my 3rd phone as they seem to think its a handset problem.

As i am over the 7 day cooling off period, can i use the sale of goods act "goods are not fit for purpose" to cancel the contract?

Andy

I would say that it is NOT fit for purpose. let them prove that it is. You have given them time to sort it out but to no avail.

Mine was an upgrade at Vodafone retail so I don't have a cooling off period, I'll stick with it and see what firmware updates bring.

The worst thing is that without these ridiculous bugs the phone would be absolutely sensational. Everythign wrong with it is irritating faults.

im fairly certain you get a cooling off period whereever/whatever due to the contractual nature of it.
Atleast it used to be that case with vodafone, I know this since I did infact work for them.

Will make a more in depth post over the weekend when I get a bit more time but im loving my N97, found a few neat features and just generally getting on fine with it. No freezes, general speed and responsivness is good and falling in love with watching BBC Iplayer on it :p

Not anymore. Changes were implemented sometime in April or so in respect of cooling off periods. Online and over the phone is now 7 days, down from 14 IIRC.

I am starting to get very annoyed with this phone. Ive just recieved a replacement phone and the slider on it feels faulty and it seems to have a lot on play in it. So this is the 3rd phone and its just NOT right.

I have been reading your posts overon the VF forum. stick with it.

I decided to give my phone more of a chance, updated the firmware etc, facebook was playin up so i deleted it and have tried reinstalling, what a joke the ovi store is, its not particulaly reliable, i cant reinstall facebook, its a never ending circle of this failing, that failing. They havnt tried very hard to simplify things into a mainstream dumbed down way of doing things. Or maybe they have, and mines just a piece of poo that is riddled?

Right just got off the phone to customer services. I am getting send a replacement phone on Friday and i have been given a credit on my account for all the problems i have been having.

If i doesnt work this time, i am going to be returning the phone under the sale of goods act and going back to my trusty old N95

Battery life test day 2. Encouraging results - it has now been about 27 hours since my charge and I've got 5 bars of battery left. Phone has been used for about 30 minutes of calls and 20 odd text messages.

The most annoying thing about this phone is beneath the inexcusable level of bugs lies probably one of the best phones ever made. When it works, I absolutely love this phone. It's brilliant. Which makes it all the more difficult to just bin it and get something else. I want to stick with it because I want them to fix it and then I want to enjoy it as its supposed to be..
