Looking at buying an st220 on an 03 plate.....6speed box so it's a facelift (i believe some older ones came with a 5 speed?)

what would be a good price to pay? it's got 68k on the clock and a good service history.

Sure its a facelift?

I'm sure the facelift was 2004 so the earliest ones were 53 reg - if you've seen it or have photos it's immediately obvious from the dashboard

Lol it wasnt recently - March 08 and was very low mileage.

Same with any cars though, best not to think about what you loose in depreciation...

I dont think the improvement is as much as you'll see on a turbocharged car

Can't imagine you'll need it though!

I know that in some circumstances it can improve performance while helping MPG.....and i'm not worried about the MPG but every little helps! (oh, and the extra performance too lol)

can this be right? not bad!????

Solid has a Dreamscience on his ST220 - hopefully he'll see this thread and let you know what he thinks :)

Sod that.

I would say if its pre facelift it would be worth 4k at max and be wary of gearbox/clutch/dmf issues if its a facelift might go up to 4700 or so depending on condition.

I actually have had both bluefin and dreamscience on my car, the dreamscience is a notably better map with a lot more customisation and the fact you can use it on more than one car as it has 5 unlocks. the map provides much cleaner revs and seems to have that ability to rev and more power available lower down than the bluefin. If you got the cash get the Dreamscience unit. Much better imo. BHP/Torque increase isn't fantastic but it never will be with most NA engines, just gives you better/more usable power through the rev range. Makes me sad I paid 8.5k for my 04 plate just 18months ago :(

what did the dreamscience kit set you back? any other mods required to get to the figures you have in your signature?

I got a good deal and got it for £300 brand new but you wont find them for that anymore.

The other mods on the car are a Mongoose Catback exhaust and at the time I was running a K&N 57i cone filter. But now I have a pipercross VIS kit on, to be honest modding wise won't get you too far with this car, the filter and exhaust make the car sound even better at both ends but probably don't do too much. Better off saving your cash unless you get a good second hand deal on the bits.

I have upgraded the brakes though to the focus ST items on the front and that is a mod I would definitely recommend. The standard brakes are woeful.
