Details of next xbox live update

Well component was working fine on my monitor before the update and worked for the first few hours after I installed it.. then the next day when I came to turn it on, nothing, no signal.

so this number of years thing, will they give free stuff out to long term subscribers? like a free gamer pic when you get to 10 years, lol. or is it just a pointless number?

i might be half way to a free gamerpic in Jan, when mine changes to a 5 :D

opening the guide & browsing content is now faster on my 360 with the update, avatar marketplace - i wont be using, unless i end up with a random number of points i cant buy anything else with.

So it's most likely nothing to do with the update then?....

6 days to go now. I thought the Games on Demand were supposed to be arriving as part of this preview? The final version will be out at this rate.

With achievements? I presume they will cost a few thousand msp?

They're just digital versions of the Xbox game discs. Pricing is supposed to be in line with RRPs so I should think £19.99. You can pay in points or pounds. They won't have any new games for fear of upsetting big names like GameStop.

Pointless feature if you can get a physical copy for less then.

Basically like most digital distribution systems then? Some people don't want to have to go out and get the game, but rather sit at home and download. If they want to pay a premium then fine.

so downloadable 360 games? for those of us who only have a 20GB drive and refuse to upgrade it at microsofts ripoff prices, this is useless surely?

personally, i would have preferred a PC client like steam where you can store the games (no price probs then), and with both on a local network, the access time, and read speed would be vastly superior to a DVD - even without a gigabit LAN.

hell, why not partner with valve? the whole infrastructure is already there

it's not a question of cheap, it's a question of refusing to bend over and take it from microsoft. i really *really* hate sony, they deserve a slapping for all the carp they've pulled, but the face that they are more customer focused than MS in this instance is just showing how bad MS are (re in the PS3 you can buy a drive yourself and just swap it out).
