I've not really done a huge amount with my digital images, aside from getting a few prints up around the house. As I build on my knowledge and skills I might get a canvas or two made if I can produce good enough results.

I'm considering upgrading my rather sparse Flickr account to Pro so that I can stick a lot more online and maybe get a little critique. The upload limit on the regular accounts is rather constricting, as are the set limits.

Does anyone have one, any pros or cons, and is there a better alternative?

I have one, i might not use as much storage compared to the non Pro account, but i used to, i liked having the re-assurance of having it all backed up, just made it private. Removed them from there now though.

I like having various Collections/Sets, so i decided why not.

My Pro account is up for renewal end of this month, thanks for reminding me :p

I've got one - and I use it all the time - there are a few things that I dislike about the image browsing on Flickr but other than that I think it's brilliant. The biggest thing that Flickr has going for it is it's community.

I used it as my main place for photo storage. I love that I can upload high res images, organise them into sets and collections, and then have them automatically resized and be given direct links to said resized versions.

I love Flickr in general, getting comments on photos, the groups, seeing stats on how many people have seen my stuff. I love it!!

I went for it from the onset simply so i can upload the original size images, i'm not entirely sure what i'm getting other than that (i think some usage restrictions are removed?) but for 12 quid or whatever it was a no-brainer just for the full size pics alone :)

plus when used with the lightroom plugin its superb!

absolutely superb, its donationware so after 6 weeks (i think) you have to pay at least 1 cent, the paypal transaction ID is then your serial number...

I gave him 10 quid as I thought it was such a polished comprehensive plug-in that it deserved it :)

EDIT: oh yeah, best thing is you can export RAW files and it does the jpeg conversion as part of the integrated process :D

I was wondering what Mugen's sig was from, I've just started getting back into anime for the first time since the days of vhs.

And back on topic I was also pondering a flickr pro account.

Awesome. Cheers for that. Been debating up to pro as well myself for a while.

Agree on the comment above about browsing images, tis a bit of a pain.

Well you can store photo's anywhere, it depends whether you're OCD about having them in different sets and whether you're wanting to take part in the community.

Personally I store all my photos on my own webspace, I wrote some code which lets me resize images on the fly, great for uploading full rez and then posting them elsewhere in whatever res I need.
