The *Official* Eve Online Thread

OCUK corp has a "no PvP" rule as far as I know.

The corp I'm in (which is in the Overclockers alliance) is less strict, but I've recently been getting some grief for my negative security status. :(

OCUK channel is relatively quiet most of the time too which is a shame.

Filthy pirate!

I'm about to re-sub my account - just waiting for CCP to sort out my PayPal payment which is showing as "Timed Out" on their site, but money has been taken... I've got one question:

How do you enable multi monitor support in EVE? 1280x1024 is a tiny resolution for all the windows and if I could spread it across both my screens it would be great :)

Cheers,

Craig

I don't think Eve supports multiple monitors. Used to, but they removed it as it caused a lot of issues. You might be able to dig up some third party software that will do the job, I haven't dug very deep.

Rich, im intrested, you got a public channel i could join or a char i could convo?

Send an eve mail to Septus Octavianus

He'll then get back in contact with you with some questions :) Same goes for anyone else looking for empire war PvP and WH PvP :)

Just to save time -

You'll be expected to have TS and a working mic;
Know Eve PvP basics eg aligning to objects, orbiting, following FC orders etc etc
Be GMT timezone or close to it;
Fly at least T2 class (min Interceptor);

You can have more than one Eve Client on different screens but one client stretched across 2 screens is a no no.

You may get lucky with this.

yeah no probs will do tonight, none of those requirements are a problem in the slightest.

Think I'm going to take an extended break from EVE - the grind to fund pvp is just too mind numbing and the best things in eve are also large part of the problem imo. Real loss just encourages blobbing/logofski docking games and every other lame tactic possible. In two years thinks i've had 3 fair fights.

Will probably resub when the sov changes go through

Yeah, it's always made me chuckle how hardcore pirates poke fun at carebears when hotdropping, blobbing, NAP'ing, gatecamping, baiting, etc are the order of the day most of the time in PvP.

People don't want to lose ships, and I've yet to come across anyone who wasn't prepared to blob up if it meant guaranteeing victory with minimal/any losses.

Unfortunately that's human nature and as you say "real loss" is a big part in it.

I am shocked that they still haven't sorted out the insurance on ships in the game.

A 3 million ISK insurance payback for a 25 million ISK stealth bomber is quite frankly a bloody joke! That's without all the modules and fittings. They need to really look at the insurance element of the game.

Yeah i know what you mean, insurance on my Nightmare was stupid. If i had insured it and lost it i would have lost 3.35 Billion ISK LOL.

I surpose it is the risk you take flying a T2 or faction ship :o

this is because insurance is payed at the default market price, the prices listed on the item database on the website, rather than the ingame market prices. Just blame the market for that one.

One rule you should always follow which you will have heard a million times but it fits in with T2 ships. Never fly what you cannot afford to loose. There has to be some risk with using T2 ships and this is it :)

well i re-subbed as i said i was, im gonna forget my Loki till this patch as most people seem to advise against getting one now, so im back to flying my HIC, which is fun in WH's catching noobs and ransoming them lol.

I'm glad T2 and faction stuff isn't covered by insurance, makes losses more meaningful, and means there's still a place for T1 as throwaway fun ships, rather than just for low-SP players. I never insure anything anyway, its essentially pointless on T2, and the only T1 I fly are fleet BS and they just don't die fast enough :p

Can Manticores fit cov ops cloaks these days? They never used to be able to but battleclinic loadouts show they can fit them and warp when cloaked? If so, I'm going to have to get one!
