I am running Windows 7 RC1 64bit and both windows and the bios shows 6GB of RAM but I never see usage above 3GB so I used Prime95 to stress test my pc and it maxed out at 3GB

anyone had a similar problem at all?

spec is

2.4ghz quad core
IP35-PRO
2gb of Crucial DDR2
4gb of OCZ DDR2 (i think)

System isn't currently overclocked are there any settings I need to change in the BIOS?

Cheers

Run Intel Burn Test and then select maximum stress, this should select somewhere in the region of 4-5GB to stress test if it's working correctly.

hi there, u pretty much have teh same setup as me. i was running a q6600 at 3.4ghz with 2x1gb ocz reaper ddr2. recently installed windows 7 and altho it was fast, i found that when i was running games such as world of warcraft (windowed mode) and then tried to say open firefox then it would always take a wee bit to start. windows said ram usuage was up at 93% so i went ahead and ordered 2x2gb ocz reaper.

Everythign went fine and windows booted up and showed 6gb of ram, however i found that when i ran warcraft i would get memory errors. Turns out that using all 4 memory banks on the motherboard means it needs more juice, so i had to up the mch voltage by 2 notches. since doing that i have no stability problems. very happy. Just thought i would share this with u if u plan to overclock. dont forget to bump on the mch voltage.

my win7 memory score went up from 5.5 to 7.3 when i went from 2gig to 6gig and the speed boost is very noticeable :)

Prime95 only tests about 2/2.5GB, but good it's working.

Yeah, the problem is that 32-bit applications cannot use more than 2GB of memory as a single process. A workaround is either to use something like Intel Burn Test, or to use the 64-bit version of Prime95 :)
