Ford Mondeo Problems

I've got a couple of problems with my MK2 Ford Mondeo Zetec (99)

Firstly the Cigarette Lighter doesnt work, whats the best thing to check, it used to only work at times, now it doesnt work at all.

Secondly the orange air bag light flash's three time, then stops for a couple of seconds, then flash's again,

I've tried searching on google but haven't found anything. I'd appreciate any advice.

Got a multimeter? Test the potential under load (the actual cigarette lighter would be a good load) after each joint/feature of the supply, including the connection to ground.

This will reveal the location of the fault.
 
could be something as simple as checking the fuse for the fag lighter, or giving it a clean on the inside if you do use it as a lighter, gets clogged up eventually.
