As both handsets are Android which is actually better, I believe some people here have used both. I'm considering moving from my Touch HD.

I know but I want a more direct comparison, both have very strong areas, can samsung match the HTC interface, etc.

general consensus seems to favour the HTC interface, but obviously that's a software layer, the consensus seems to favour the galaxy hardware, which obviously you can't change

Werid that, I got the Hero and stripped it of its HTC interface now using the bog standard Android UI.

I have not seen the i7500 in the flesh but from video and photos I'm not a fan of the Samsung hardware, it just looks like any other Samsung phone plus its miss a trackball. The white i7500 looks rather nice...

I personally prefer the android native interface, but I haven't had a proper play with a hero, been completely sold on the i7500 for a while now though

Is there a release date due etc, had a quick look but couldnt see anything concrete. Must say I'd prefer the Xperia3, but I'm not sure if I can hold out that long.

If its not going to be out within ~2 months I doubt I'll be able to hold off the Galaxy/Hero.

Of the 2 I'd prefer the galaxy, but the hero is much much much cheaper thanks to O2s expensive tarriffs (will use mainly texting / internet) so the contracts arnt nearly as helpful

I have the Hero and love it, but the I7500 has a better camera and in all honesty, although it isn't bad enough to stop me loving the phone the HTC interface can be a bit laggy.

Just go for whichever tariff suits you best, you can't go wrong either way.

Although i'm being honest, i love the galaxy so you can assume i'm a little biased :)

Seriously tho, its a reallll pitty samsung didn't put more ram in. Otherwise it would have been absolutely perfect.

RE the white I7500, it really does look cool, but tbh the shiny plastic that samsung use will probbaly make it look like a toy in real life.

RE 'looks like every other samsung'. You're totally right. It also feels too light, but as soon as u flip the screen on you'll be totally amazed and realise its not normal samsung.
