Ok, Am I totally in the wrong here or does it sound like I am being ripped off?

Currently I am paying £37 per month for 20 MB internet with virgin media, and they are telling me that because I am an "existing" customer, I can not get the 50MB connection for 35 a month??

In fact, the woman told me that it worked like this:

35 with 50MB and their phone line (with the phone cost on top). If you add say talk unlimted, the price of the internet suddently becomes the regular 50 per month? So in short, she informed me that there was no way that because of the package I am on that they can adjust it and place me on the 50MB connection that I am basically paying for.

To sum it up, I do have their telephone line, and because of that get - 8 from my bill, to make the 20MB connection cost me 29 a month, and yet 50MB is costing new customers 35 a month.

Anyone clear this up for me?

According tot he retentions bloke I was speaking to yesterday all customers are charged the same for services on their bill e.g an existing customers BB may show as £30 on the bill so would a new customers. He then said its the level of discount you get that differntiates between new and old customers. So apparantly new customers get discounts anyway  Thanks for being a long standing customer lol ><

I still don't get itthough.

I added up the costs on my bill (MAIN SERVICES)- and it came to 70.20P. Which is what they add up everything to and charge me?

I may be failing massively right now, but I don't see how they can say I can't get the same deal as a new customer because I have more packages than just the phone and broadband?

*EDIT*

According to that, I should have Medium TV, XL Phone and XXL BB for 42 a month + 11 for another phone line? or does the phone line break it?

You dont have any discounts on your account?

the retentions guy said I couldnt upgrade to 50Mb BB @ the advertised price as that was a new customer incentive (discount) and my current discounts would be wiped if this new one was added.

My current bill shows:

Line Rental £11
Talk Eve+W/End 3.45
Loyalty Pack, BB, Phone TV 3D Sky £-22.70
TV Size: XL £23.00
V+ Box: £0
BB Size: XL 37.00
Paper Bill Charge: £1.25

Total of £53.00 / £51.75 before bill charge.

So I would lose my £22.70 discount and then receive the new customer discount of I think £17 in order to bring the BB cost to £35.

Im not too sure that this guy knew exactly what the rules were as he had to put me on hold a few times and speak to other people, seemed rather new to the systems and unwilling to budge whatsoever. Always best just to leave it and try again with a different person.

Hmmm, I am stuck between emailing them and calling again on monday. If I get the same lady I will hang up again. I seriously am not happy about this.

I don't understand how my having *MORE* stuff increases the price of my internet?

Hmmmmmmmmm.

I think I will wait a month and call back not on the weekend. I find what she is telling me impossible - that the discounted 50MB only applies if you don't have the TV.

I gave up after 30 minutes because I was on the virge of losing my temper, which doesn't do anyone any good.

I called VM last night. I have been on the 20MB Net, XL TV and Basic Phone, with 400mins per month to all landlines & mobile phones for £72.00 per month. Been with Virgin for around 5 years.

I called them, and advised I wanted to upgrade to the 50MB broadband, I struck a deal where I get the 50Mb broadband, XL TV (now also with Sky Sports & Sky Movies which I didnt have before) and the XL Phone (all landline calls are free 24/7, but no mobile inlcuded) and my new monthly bill is £66.00.

All in all, happy bunny, just got to wait for the 50MB broadband to be installed on the 24th.

That sounds like a good price, Does this include V+ ?

I was told XL/XL/XXL would be approx £68 that was without sports and Movies.

Are Gateshead retentions open today or is it back to India? Bah just tried 5pm closed
