Cancel your Orange contract now!

Same problem here, it hasnt tracked for me either (ordered 31/July). I followed all the quidco browser guides as what to do etc.. Have raised a ticket, just wondering in this kind of case, do quidco manually fix it or simply dont belive you and try to fob you off ??
Generally they track and are paid fine as long as you went through the site when you said you did. Ive had a few paid after raising a ticket, it should be fine.

Hmm, it says tracking 3-5 days... should I raise a ticket now or wait till the 5 days is up?

Worst case scenario I can cancel the O2 contract within 14 days, then re-order another one right?

[edit] Never mind, apparently I can't submit an enquiry till 14 days have passed which is a bit annoying!

Cheers,

Su

dont know what you mean about data usage with O2 being better, I have unlimited internet/data on my orange contract and have used it well beyond 2 gigs in the past week - checked my bill with customer services and no charges - seeing as i negotiated 800 min, unlimited texts and unlimited internet for £15 per month for 18 months I cant even see a deal out there to come close!

I had no data allowance on dolphin 35.

Do you happen to know what the charges are for the rest of the 30 days? The back of the letter says they are your daily line rental fees times by the amount left on your bill.

So I'm either going to get a £40 bill or a few hundred quid!

No, I hadn't noticed that tbh. How much is daily line rental? So it would have been cheaper to give o2 my pac nearer to the end of the 30 days?

Yeh it is cheaper.

I can't find an answer on the internet so I will find out in 28 days, hope it isn't something stupid...

Well myself and girlfriend had a right headache over this, but got somewhere in the end.

Orange as stated many times previously in this thread are less then willing to let you cancel, after like 20? calls, we got nowhere.

In our highstreet Phones 4 You were offering to help you escape your orange contract if you agree to trade in your old phone at their trade in price (a bit lower then a certain auction website would have netted us but still).

After much arguments between P4U and orange, orange came out ontop .. kinda.

They agreed to drop our monthly cost (Dolphin 35) Which was currently at £30/month due to a web deal, down to £20 / month for the remaining contract time.

Accepted, not the outcome we wanted but we got something at least.

did you read any of the previous pages on this thread? that link has been post a few times already(can't remember off the top of my head who originally posted it). but I guess it'll be useful for others who don't read the full thread.

I got my text last Friday and cancelled it on Saturday, waiting on the payg sim to come so hope orange don't pull the 'you don't go over your minutes' party trick once(or should that be if) I get the payg sim in the next few weeks.

Well I have just got off the phone to Orange and I got canceled first time! (12 months into a 18 month contract) :D:D

I'm getting it put on PAYG, as soon as the sim arrives (about 2-3 days) I call up a 0800 number which activates the PAYG sim and cancels my contract.

The thing that done it for me is I have called an 0845 number a few times (which was actually the RAC when my car broke down) so really they did not have a leg to stand on as the changes in charges will effect me (although I dont go over my inclusive minutes)! :p

Overall very chuffed!

iPhone 3GS on the way :D

So I just got a text"From 14th september we'll be changing the cost of some of calls that are not included in your plan..."

Does this mean I am legible to cancel also?

who told you 2-3 days for the payg sim? I was told upto 30days, I phoned up last saturday and am still waiting on the sim to arrive. pac is 3-5 days tho have read people say they've got it in like 2days.

I'm also with the rac, been lucky so far and not had to call them out but the price increase would effect me if I ever need to.

I would guess so. I actually deleted my text message by mistake but from their records they could tell that they had sent it to me so it was not a problem. As stated above because I had called 0845 numbers that's what swung it for me. I was surprised how easy the whole process was with no hassle at all from the lady I spoke to.

The lady I spoke to told me 2-3 days. I'm not bothering with my pac code as I dont mind getting a new number. Perhaps thats speeding up my process?

Ah well, atleast i'll be off Orange and on o2 who actually have signal around here.. surely they cant charge you more than 1 months bill though?

I don't think they're charging for a months bill I think they're charging you a daily fee and multiplying it by the days left from your PAC.

I hope it isn't more than £2 a day, theoretically it should just be your month's line rental split up into the days.

We will see!

it all depends where you are in your montly bill cycle, if you're at the start when you order your pac then you'll just get charged your normal montly amount.

Just upgraded my contract now. Managed to get

£20/month inc VAT
800 xnet mins
Unlimited texts
Unlimited Internet
Sony Ericsson W995 for free.

Could have gone £15 a month for the same deal with 400 minutes, but the phones available weren't as good. But I'm quite happy with that as it halves my current monthly cost. :)

Right well they're now saying because I haven't been over my minutes in the last three months that it 'doesn't effect me' (even though they agree it will if I go over in the future) and thus I can't cancel. Spoken to 2 different supervisors about this and there's now a note on my account saying I can't. Going to sleep on it, but looks like I'll be leaving and then starting a small claims action against Orange on this. It's surprising, after you've told them that you've notified Ofcom (and offer them the complaint number) as well as having received legal advice (and that such told you that they were in breach regardless of whether I go over my minutes), quite how little they care.
Following the above I've now decided to go for it and tomorrow will be posting a letter to Orange stating the following:
In response to the latest changes in your terms and conditions with regards to minimum charging for calls, I now write to you to exercise my right to cancel my contract without penalty.

Clause 4.3 of my contract with you clearly states that I may cancel if any changes ‘alter [my] rights under this Contract to [my] detriment’. I believe firmly that the latest changes will detrimentally affect me for the following reasons:
  1. I have in the past and continue to call 0845 numbers from my telephone, which are not included within my inclusive minutes.
  2. I have, in the past, exceeded my inclusive minutes and am likely to do so in the future.
  3. More specifically, I have planned, since before starting my contract, to increase my use of the telephone from mid-September onwards due to starting a training course. Such an increase in use will mean that I am likely to be outside my inclusive minutes every month thereafter. I chose this call-plan from you on the knowledge that such would likely occur and, based on your call price assertions, placed reliance on certain rates.
  4. Loss of the opportunity to use of your services at the cheaper rate.
As a result, in accordance with your terms and conditions, I am giving you sufficient notification that I would like to terminate my contract with immediate effect. I would also like to request my PAC code for this account and telephone number. I trust that this PAC code will be provided to me immediately. Please be aware that Ofcom have been informed of this matter (complaint number ########) and, along with BBC Watchdog, are to be copied in to this letter to you.

If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at the above address or on ########.

It'll be going straight to their 'compliance team' rather than customer services. Their customer services representatives have been so unbelievably rude over this that I'm quite prepared to follow this as far as necessary.
