Ive just sold my Honda Civic Type-R. Clicky

It was up for £8,000 and after an epic battle managed to both settle for £7,600. In the current climate Im actually pretty damn pleased.

Just need to wait for the missus to find employment again and I'll be asking you lot for some advice on Scoobys :D

I guess the reason Im posting this, is just for a little reassurance that £7,600 was a good sale. Looking at others in my area, they were listed for even less before people would even haggle. I went a little higher due the low miles on mine and the condition overall.

How did you find it to live with and what kind of running costs did you have?
Now you've got rid, I'm guessing that it'll be a less biased view.

I'll be totally neutral.

Petrol Consumption - Suprisingly good if you keep it at low revs and high gears, good as in as good as it gets for a 200BHP+ hot hatch.

Looks - Subjective of course, but I never did think it was a beautiful car, it was the performance and handling that sold it for me. I grew to dispise the look of it, it grew to look more like a mini-van/people carrier to my eyes every day.

Performance - For the first week, I was scared of it. My top speed in it was 130MPH (on a private track of course ;) ). The VTEC was exhilarating, the moment you hit 6000 revs you get a kick and thats where the fun starts. After a year of ownership, the VTEC still feels good, but everything underneath feels underpowered and you begin to release how little torque there is. Ive outgrown the performance and it doesnt seem fast at all now. You seem to rev it like mad to get to that VTEC and then that now feels like an anti-climax. Dont get me wrong though, the first 6 month of ownership is extraordinary.

Insurance - £800 based on 5 years no claims. Strangely cheaper than my previosu Toyota Celica Gen 6 which was a 1.8!

Day-to-day - Only rattles were from the cup holder. Good boot space. Very bad turning cirlce. Bonnet is a stone chip magnet. Paintwork is not the best compared to my other cars Ive owned.

Things I'll Miss - That 'jolt' from the VTEC. Thats it. Though Im sure the turbo in my forthcoming Subaru will beat that. Reliability, then again its only just hit 22,000 miles. Honda though, they last forever.

Any questions at all mate, just ask. Still one of the best hot hatches imho, Ive always prefer coupe stlye though. Saying that, my taste is changing as I get older (27)

That seems horrendous to me, but I guess the area must make a huge difference!

At 27 that's the sort of quotes I was getting for M3s and Evos lol.

lol. Well about £740 or something to be specific. No points. No claims. Fully comp. Thats with Directline. I will be shopping around next time however.

Jesus Christ, I've got less no claims, have 4 points and one previous claim and I pay about half that. Please shop around!

£7,600 seems like a good wad of cash for a 5 year old CTR. Can't say I'd part with that much for it, good sale I reckon.

I bought this April last year, it was up at £10,000 due it having 17,000 miles, I really haggled and got it at £9,100 lol

Its cost me £1500 in depreciation, not bad I think. Its been fun.

Not bad at all, I think I lost close to 2k owning my EP3.

With a bit of luck my EK9 will be sold shortly, at a ~1k loss ish.

You can't not expect to lose money on cars, they aren't investments.

Forgive my idiocy, the insurance is £480. Ive just checked with the missus. Im living in the past maaaaaan. Shes the banker :D

I can remember paying £1400 a year when I was a youngun' when I had my 206 GTI. I can once remember being quoted £2500 for a Fiesta XR2 when I first passed me test. Crazy.

Good summary, reflects my experience...... turning circle comment made me smile :D

I've 92k on mine (used as company car as opposed to a eurobox), and reliability is spot on, with free smile on every roundabout.
