Recently BBC HD/Lux TV breaks up a lot on my Freesat pc.

All other channels are fine, just the 2 HD channels so would this point towards a LNB fault or an allignment? The LNB was installed 3.5 years ago, that replaced the existing one that the Sky engineer changed.

Any ideas?

Those 2 channels are nowhere near each other so I doubt it's the LNB or the alignment, especially if other channels aren't having issues.

dont really need to change lnb. unless u want less interferance and single stength.

but most are standard.

the alignment probably got shaken by the wind or something. i wouldnt advise a motor setup in the uk because of the weather here. best advise is to have it fixed with 2 lnbs. pointed to Astra and hotbird

The signals from the satellite are polarised, with 8 different polarities. Meaning that 8 different channels can share the same frequency. It is common for LNB misalignment/failure to cause problems on just one plane. Meaning about 1 out of 8 channels, nowhere near each other are disrupted.

Except BBC HD and Luxe HD are on different polarisations, and the OP says they are the only two channels affected, which also happen to be HD. I'd be looking at the receiver setup and not the LNB.

If every other channel is fine then I'd say this isn't the fault of the LNB.

Usually you could blame the LNB if all the channels on the eurobird sat (28.5E, rather than 28.8E Astra) were breaking up or perhaps the channels on a certain transponder were doing so. i.e. BBC HD shares with BBC Channel Islands:

Astra 2D (28.2° East)
Transponder 50
Frequency: 10.84700 GHz
Vertical polarisation
Symbol rate: 22.0 Mbaud
FEC 5/6

So if you can view it - then I'd suggest the software/hardware issue.

I'd hazard a guess and say that something in your PC set up is preventing either, enough bandwidth for the HD signal or sufficient processing power. (Personally, I'd say it was the latter is more likely to be at fault).

I had this problem with the satellite card in my HTPC with HD channels I replaced the LNB and it resolved the issue (I needed to change to a Quad LNB anyway). It also stopped the odd breakup on other channels in heavy rain/wind. You can get a quad LNB on ebay for next to nothing.

My PC has remained unchanged for over a year. I refreshed back too my backup too, and still no joy. Still breakup on the HD channels. Could my NOVA S2 be to fault?

Thank you
