Do these work with the Dolby Digital Live / DTS Connect Pack available from Creative ($5)? They were on sale at OCUK a while ago and I think I can get one at a good price.

As some of you may know, my ideal headphone setup would be an X-Fi outputting to a Dolby Headphone capable receiver. Just got a Victor SU-HD1 dolby headphone processor on the bay and looking for a cheap DDL capable X-Fi with DDL to go with it.

If I like what I hear, the combo might usurp my Xonar D2. IF not, the Xonar stays but I'll probably use the SU-DH1 with other sources.

As for other options - the Titanium PCI-E series are out as I don't have room in my case. I'd much rather fork out for an OEM Xtreme Music than another Prelude.

Well, unfortunately the Xtreme Music causes me issues with snap, crackle pop with Vista 4GB so it won't be staying. It won't do PCM stereo audio over optical either, which is a bit inconvenient for my music listening.

It works with DDL and DTS Connect though. Just tried Assassin's Creed (EAX4). Positional Audio on X-Fi through SU-DH1 (for Dolby Headphone) is notably better than on Xonar, although EAX effects are more subltle. It's the sense of distance and elevation that really make the difference. Having the X-Fi with Dolby Headphone sounds great.

Picking up a 2nd hand Prelude later, as the last one I had didn't cause me problems wtih 4GB RAM. Hopefully that'll be the end of it.

But if you have 8gb of mem, theres no snap, crackle pop with vista

Dunno. It's a bit of a lottery. Plenty of people on the Creative forums complaining of SCP with 8GB. Plently with no problem and 4GB.

The Prelude drivers use a different 64 bit addressing system, which explains why I could get it working OK. Unfortunately Daniel_K's modded Beta Prelude drivers don't work on the OEM SB0770 otherwise that would be the cheapest route out.
