Hi all,

Built up the system today,

The bundle was supposed to have the Noctua HSF but actually came with the Prolima Megahalems,

The best bit is that I didn't even have to reinstall windows 7 it just booted up and loaded up all the new drivers for me!! haven't tested it in game though yet.

I'd recommend wiping the computer and reinstalling Windows 7 anyway. You never know what bits of old drivers are left in the system otherwise which may affect performance. These overclocked bundles look good however.

yeah you're probably right, I will do that in a bit, it looks good so far though!!

Gigabyte boards have some power saving features, they aren't called speedstep on mine but yeah that would cause it. I'd also like to know whether they affect stability at all.

If you want to stop it lowering the frequency when the system is idling, then you need to disable C1e and EIST in your BIOS, but tbh you should really leave this on, as it just means that you use less power when the system isn't doing anything... as soon as you start doing stuff that requires more processing power it shoots right back up to whatever you have your processor clocked to...

I used to disable these in the BIOS, but I found it was better to leave them on...

::edit::

From my experience, these power saving features don't affect system stability whatsoever... at least not on the UD5 anyway...

I never bought the bundle... I bought the components seperately before these bundles became available...

If they were available at the time I bought my gear, I would have went for one!

leave the bios as it is

i set them up for optimum performance/power efficiancy

if you have any questions regarding your bundle please post in customer support for my attention

it seems that it is running well for you though :)

Hi rjkoneill, yes you've done a great job! many thanks! have just been playing GTA IV for an hour or so and it's running great, I will leave all the settings in the bios to what you've put them at. Is there a way to back up the profile somehow?

The BIOS profile should already be saved for you.. if for any reason your o/c fails and your BIOS gets reset to defaults, just press F12 when you are in the BIOS and you should be able to choose the profile set by rjk...

ahh ok thanks! was thinking I might stick another fan on the Prolima Megahalems for a push pull to lower the temps a little bit more, any links to good fans? also where do I order the extra fan clips?
