How the hell do I make up my mind? (bikes)

Had a Falco then an RSV, god I love that twin lump. Took some getting used to coming from a jap 4 cyl. First thing I did to both was down-gear with some nice Renthal sprockets and a decent chain. Then fit titanium Scorpion cans with a chip. Used the Mille to commute everyday for 3 years, great bike. Build quality isn't bad, at least not compared to my mates Ducati 916, bits were always falling off that.

Nice buy mate .. Agree with all of the above but def have a full fluid flush on brakes/clutch .
Also i would be personally not keen on 5 year old tyres that will probably be flat spotted if it has been sitting that long. Probably look ok but have a ride and see what you think but i would budget/speak to dealer about a fresh set of hoops .

Def do the gearing change and get a decent noisy pipe ;) and then enjoy .

I don't know what pipe to get when it comes now :/

Got an akrapovic on my Fazer, but I don't have the dough for something like that new for the Mille... I'd kill a kitten for a set of Draeger's exhausts, but too much moneys again. *scours internets*

There is a pair of Akrapovics ( twin can system ) plus headers on fleabay just now, finishes in about 30 mins ad is sat at £200 at the moment. Looks stunning.

I would link to it but I'm not sure if links to ebay items are allowed here?.

Aprilia (Old shape) Tuono Fighter
Buell Firebolt/Lightning
Yamaha XT660x/r (probably x)
Yamaha R1/R6 (R1 only because they're remarkably pretty cheap, I'm used to a litre bike and fairly restrained)
KTM Duke/Duke II
Aprilia FalcoAprilia RSV Mille

WTF? I just want everything!

I ride regularly with a pillion, and being able to have a topbox/possibly panniers would be useful, but I could get by.

the fact you ride regularly with a pillion and top boxes eliminates the Mille and R1/R6.
KTMs are out too.
i'd say Falco or more preferable the Tuono. only preferable because i believe it has more usable power? someone else can confirm that.

Falco was very slightly detuned but the Tuono was exactly the same engine as the Mille. ;)

BTW, the OP has finally decided upon and purchased an RSV.

I've actually found a way to slap a topbox on it without bodging, which is nice to know. I shan't be doing it for a while, I'll just stick a renntec grab rail on it for my girlfriend, and then when I need it, get the Hepco & Becker rack. It's not a bad solution actually - it looks like a Renntec small luggage rack, but a plate & box can be added. It's a fairly inoffensive way to mount a top box. This is my only transport, so it's either that or possibly buy my brother-in-law's pegaso as a daily hack, which is definitely another option.
