What is it like? As good as my WRT54G?

I am being upgraded on Saturday and if the Virgin router is OK then I will hand my Linksys over to my GF who currently has the worst wireless router in existence.

If you mean the WNR2000 (I think that's the model) it is amazing!! I have one myself...my laptop has Wireless N technology and you can tell the difference instantly with the speed and performance...I was once outside my front garden...well actually I was about an extra 10mtrs from my front garden...and my router is upstairs on the 1st floor of my house on the other side...I was getting over 70% signal... :D

Never had any dropouts...my housemate is in the room next door to me and she gets very good signal too...our walls are not too thick internally but externall they are...but the signal strength is still unbelievably brilliant. Security wise I am using WEP, but you have other choices like WPA, WPA2, WPA-PSK, etc and there's one called WPS which I think is like a one button security process. Never tried myself to be honest. But the possibilities are endless my friend :D as for range...like I said in my first post, I must have been a good 50mtrs from my room and the signal was just immense :D but thats only cos my laptop has Wireless N...but even on Wireless G it should be fine too...

OK thanks for that.

My only concern is 5 other than myself rent my line off me and my Linksys has been impeccable for the task so I hope the Virgin one matches if not betters it so my GF doesn't get cut off all the time. :D

i hope its better than the piece of crap wrvs4400n ive got. Worst linksys router i have EVER used.

it will handle it no problem...I got 4 PC connected to it via ethernet, my laptop and my housemates PC are both connected wirelessly...no slow down, no lagging...and gaming online is just sublime :D

It is actually a Netgear router lol...so you are definitely getting the best possible one out there right now :D

I have the wrn2000 and it is rubbish. I get a good signel in the garden but a rubish one in the front room. I've just phoned them and there sending me a new one out. Hopefully it was just a faulty router. I never had any problems at all with my old d-link one on 20 meg and got fantastic range everywhere in the house. But the netgear one has been very poor.

i have a wrn2000 also and its terrible, the worst i've had too date the wireless keeps dropping out on me and i've tried every channel. trying to get a hold of vm to get it replaced

I just told them it was fine wired but wireless any more than 6 feet away was dropping off. Told them it dropped off 6 plus times a night. She checked the modem at there end and said it sound like there was a problem and they would send me one out and to see if that fixed the problem.

ill say the same on thurs when im off work, they increased the strength going to my modem to see it it helped. but if i dont get much help from them on thur im just gonna say it doesnt power up

I was running a WRT54GS with 7dBi hi-gain aerial running Tomato on it. Worked perfectly for 20Mb, but simply couldn't cope with 50Mb.

I had no option but to use the WNR2000 and it's not bad at all.
It's a little basic but it does the job.
I get a good solid 135Mb wireless speed at 4-5bars all over the house where as the WRT couldn't hold a connection in some places around the house.
Throughput is fine for 50Mb too.

There are no other wireless access points near me (that I can see on the laptop) so that maybe helping.

I just had 50meg installed yesterday and the engi was unable to get connection working with the wireless dropping connection repeatedly. But he left me another router and would be coming back today to carry on sorting it out, i plugged in the second router and had no problems since so looks like it was just a duff which may be the problem you guys are having. I am in the attic room and get excellent signal, QoS etc are on the router and to top it off the unit actually looks nice.

Seems good to me so far, downloading at 6.7mb/s is sweeet lol :)

**edit**

Spoke too soon, since having the bb installed my internet has dropped on me twice during games resulting in me being added to banlists god damn it :<
