Hello guys,

I haven't picked WAR up since about 2 months after release. I was enjoying it at first, purely because it was a new MMO and a change from my typical WoW.

As I progressed, I was hit with a number of performance issues, bugs and empty tiers. This put me off quite a bit, it seemed that the lower level stuff was packed full of people, but as you progressed on, it just seemed really really quiet.

But how is it doing at the moment? I guess theirs been a few major content patches out that have hopefully fixed quite a bit of the issues and put a bit more fun back into the game.

Or is it still in the same state?

" Is it worth it? "

Short answer: no
Long answer: nooooo!

;)

No but really, they haven't really done much in terms of games performance or under populated servers since launch. Tier 4 is still ridiculously boring and a lag fast, unless you love smashing down doors all day. They have added new stuff, but they've done it in the wrong order. They added a few new classes that were missing from launch, but what they should have been doing was addressing game performance and fun issues instead of just adding more complications to the mix as those added classes are not bug free.

It's near enough in the same state, and it will die eventually, even after Marc Jacobs was fired people thought things would change with a new guy at the helm, but seemingly not.

Shame really because it could have been so good. Had so much potential but like the others, it just failed. I can see my self going back to WoW.

You should have asked only people who still have an active sub for opinions :)

But then you might not have gotten any answer at all :D

All the people I know that were quite enthusiastic when it launched all stoped playing and are now playing WoW/Aion Beta...

Such a shame it went the way it did. Incredible license and opportunity screwed up royally. I enjoyed the first 4 months but soon became dissillusioned and fed up with the brain numbingly boring city sieges.
Tiers 2-3 were awesome though.

I think it depends what you want out of a game, I've just recently returned to WAR, mainly due to lack of finding an alternative (Found Aion very dissappointing) I created a new character on a server called 'Karak-Norn' I think, anyway, there were plenty of new people around and I had no problems doing the first few Public Quests, got straight into a nice group and there were plenty of people running around.

I've heard plenty of people saying about the T4 and endgame being rubbish, I've no idea myself, I'm one of those who preferes the journey through the levels rather than rushing to reach endgame, infact once I reach level cap in a game I tend to start on a new character anyway.

I actually enjoy war, I think the RvR works well, certainly in T1 & T2, and this game has still provided some of the best PvP I've experienced in an MMO, although I stick a big discaimer on that statement by mentioning I usually hate PvP and really am more of a PvE'er.

Overall I'm glad I came back, the game seems to be getting a bit of a pounding at the minute and I hope it can recover in some way, I'm enjoying it for now, but if you're in doubt, why not try the 10 day trial, you can't really lose that way other than possibly wasting some bandwidth.

Warhammer T1 and T2 are awesome, but T3 and T4 are just poor. In the end I was just playing characters till level 22 then rerolling.

I have an active subscription since there really isnt anything else worth playing until Aion comes out. Its not great, but it kills some time :) As all MMO's i think its who you play with that counts the most. If youre in a friendly guild, then any game is probably pretty good.

Whenever I see WAR mentioned I always wonder what the thousands of people that claimed WAR was the WoW killer are doing now :p

Playing WoW i expect. Personally i've played WoW for 4 years and ive done my hardcore raiding stint and wont ever be going back, since its far too addictive and time consuming. At least when playing WAR i can be fairly casual and the game starts from level 1.

I defended WAR quite a lot from the haters, but even I've given up on it, mainly because they don't seem to be making any attempt to fix the RVR mechanics.

BUT! I tried to go back to WoW and can't - WAR's options in terms of gameplay absolutely kicks WoW into the ground. Right from Level 1 you can do solo quests, Public Quests, Scenarios or Open RvR, so there's 4. With WoW, you can do Quests. Thats it.

So I went back to WoW and found it incredibly limited. Its a shame that there are some really good ideas in WAR (and the IP is much better, world is grittier) but they've somehow managed to impliment the core mechanics (that being the RvR) incredibly badly. Beating down doors all day before endlessly dying on a ramp gets tiring on your 54th attempt.

I'd struggle to recommend it really.

I really enjoyed the RVR pvp on WAR at launch. Had some really good moments on it. I too quit playing when entering tier 3, there was literally no one about to quest with or even talk to. Really disappointing.

just gone back to it last week, when they sent out an e-mail giving me ten days free to see what they have done.

Well I cannot see much that they have done (except they wiped my main for some reason), all I know, is that I am really enjoying it, much more than the first time I subbed.

Created a Choppa class and am having loadsa fun. One thing I would say is that I only find this game good when playing as a green skin. They are just the best characters and I find this game boring when playing any of the other races and classes. My mate plays as a dark elf as he likes them to most, however the greenskins are just funny to play and look as mean as hell.

Now how could you not love a character like that?

Anyway, like mentioned above, this game made me love PvP, unlike in WoW where I positively hated it. The server I am on; Karak-Norn seems to be well populated so I think I will resub when my ten days is up this weekend.
