Not sure if this has been covered or not (cant find it), anyway im on chapter 10 first time run, and i dont scare easily but i have to say this is one creepy heart jumpy game. I think it was end of chapter 9 for example, towards the end running back to the train and one of them monsters that run like lightning flew round the corner, i nearly had to change my pants! :o

So, anyone else found this pretty nerving?

I also found the sounds disturbing, which all adds to the environment you are in.

I didn't find it at all scary when i started playing it on the PC (Smallish monitor, crap speakers), but when i got a second hand copy for the PS3 and fired it up on my 32" HDTV with surround sound i did cack myself at least a couple of times. The game is all about atmosphere, so i reckon it's hinged rather heavily on how immersive your chosen screen/audio equipment is.

ive been playing on 22" monitor, dark room loud speakers - i guess its your surroundings too.

im waiting for my 32" HDTV today, if it was jumpy before i cant imagine it on a bigger set :D

didnt find the game scary at all, probably because it was all 3rd person. I also played most of it in the dark with surround sound.

The only part in the whole game that made me jump was the ending cut scene.

Scare Factor 3/10

I did - several times. On a few occasions there were times when the necromorphs were creeping up behind you. I turned round and there they are in your face. I jumped a mile!

I think it's like horror films.

If you watch one with the intention of being scared or allowing yourself to be scared, then you will be.

But if you watch with an attitude of not being scared then you won't be.

First play through HELL YES it made me jump.

Wasn't "scary" as such but it did get my heart going and offered some good shocks. Playing through again at the moment and it's still a very fun game.

i was unsure about the view at first, but it adds to the realism, the game looks like a movie all the way through, amazing :)

Scarey as hell in some place just the way the critters move. Yes I know something will jump out on me but it's still bloody scarey when it does.

But movies that rely on blood and dismemberment arnt scary.

Another thing that takes away the realism is the way things are consistently plot locked, oh you cant go through that door \ use that console not because its locked \ not working but because someone is talking to you.

The first few chapter were a little bit scary, then turned into an action movie for me. None the less it was an awesome game!
