the problem is i can't find any pro reviews on these tv's and don't want to waste the money if theres something else better for the same sort of money

i have a budget of upto £900 and for that i want 46" 1080p and 100Hz (200Hz would be nice but i doubt there's one for my money :( )

no links that would brake the rules please just make and model will do hopefully google will do the rest :D

What do you want 1080p for? Just wondering cause for that budget you could find a 50" Panasonic X10 plasma which would be hugely better for SD and sports.

yeah i've seen them but tbh i think i would miss 1080p as i sometimes use my tv as a monitor and 720p would look awful not only that but i also game quite a bit on my tv via xbox 360 and pc

i have been looking at some of the panasonic plasmas like the g10 42" with 600Hz and 1080p but not sure, i am tempted buy the built in freesat HD but read somewhere there are issues with gaming on this tv :( and with forza 3 round the corner the tv has to be good at gaming:D

the reason i want 46" is down to the size of my front room, infact some would say 46" is overkill for my front room but i think it would be just fine

as for SD it's not a real problem tbh i would like it to be better but i got my letter from sky saying my HD box was ready so hopefully that with 100Hz should be better than it is right now

can't believe how hard it is picking a TV is at the mo there are so many in my price range like a couple of lg's ect but there are so many mixed reviews or total lack of reviews it make's deciding a nightmare :pulls hair out: :)

If you definitely want 1080p then get the G10. It will be quite a bit better than the X10.

But if you want a larger screen then due to your budget 1080p may be too expensive. Remember that xbox 360 games don't run at 1080p, all of them are 720p or lower with the exception of 2 or 3 that are truely 1080p.

must admit the g10 series is very tempting but a little worried that sticking @ 42" will make me regret the decision as this tv has to last me for a few years and did read about a few problems when gaming but will look into it more but if anyone reading this has a g10 series and games on it i would really like to hear from you if there is or isn't a problem with gaming on these screens

where did you get the information about 360 games from? i only ask because after reading what you said about most 360 games only run at 720p
i had a look through my games, i have 36 games and out of the 36 games i own 12 are 1080i and the other 24 are 1080p according to the box anyway :)

also my future plans are to build a nice fast htpc with blu-ray-rw drive for movies and possibly tv recording ect so i can use my main pc for what it was built for... gaming!!! :D

The tick on 1080i/1080p doesn't mean they run natively at that resolution, just that they will upscale to that resolution.

As said above the 360 upscales games to 1080p/1080i if that is what the console res is set to. The games themselves are natively 720p or less (COD4, Halo 3 etc as less than 720p, but can be upscaled to 1080p).

If you check on Wikipedia about the games, it will say down the right hand side what its native resolution is.

I have a 42XV635 that I picked up for a great price (£630)

Blacks and viewing angle aren't as good as they could be - though the colours are good. But the design of the TV, the price and the excellent EPG win me over - plus I really needed the subwoofer port which no other manufacturer offers.

It's worth noting that the TV will not do anything above 1280*1024 over VGA which I didn't realise before buying and find very annoyin g. Though it will do 1080p over Hdmi via a DVI-HDMI adapter.

the tosh it is then the blacks should be better than i have now and with 4 hdmi's it will allow me to connect both my game pc and htpc via hdmi-dvi and sky HD and ps3/blu-ray player via hdmi and 360 on component as game's look fine from the component lead and it's only forza 3 i'll be playing for quite some time when it come's out my pc's is my gaming machine of choice, it's only driving game's and sports games (tiger woods) that i play on my 360

thanks for all the replys guys, unless i or someone finds something better i think i'll be going for the toshiba 46xv635db as i've been well happy with the last 2 toshibas i'be had and the 3 year warranty is a major bonus as i more than likely won't be upgrading untill led/oled is affordable

i will be ordering on tuesday so if there is something better i have missed please let me know :D

tosh 46xv635bd ordered :D:D:D got it for £849 delivered the only slight downside is it could be 7 days till it's on my wall :( oh well it will alow me to paint the wall before putting the new telly up :) i will do a sort of review as there is very little reviews about this tv on the net

thanks for all your comments guys i was very tempted by the panasonic g10 but my budget wouldn't strech to a 46" and i think i would regret going for another 42" as when i got my current 42" all my mates said i should have gone for a bigger one, can't wait to watch some HD movies now and get some gaming done as the last week has been spent trying to find a tv lol

I've been seriously looking at this model myself - need to upgrade from my existing 32WLT66 as it's a bit small for the lounge. How's your experience been with this set? Anyone else have one/any insight on it?

Also, can anyone confirm whether the 46XV635DB will play .mkv/h.264 encoded content via the USB port?

I've seen two differing remarks on AVForums. One states that the 42-inch version DOES support mkv, and another mentioning the 37" says that it doesn't.

Can anyone confirm whether the 46" will?

sorry i'm a little late getting back to you i must have deleted my subscription  anyway if you are still interested i am more than happy with it i've got sky hd now and 360, ps3 and pc connected by hdmi and the quillity is great but even with my old sky+ box was still good better than my old 42xv505db and many times better than my old 32wl66 if your still in the market for a new tv it's well worth putting on your shopping list :D

no missed out due to me buying it before the offer started :( and i had already registered it
