Is there are Free application/addon available that allows you to customise the Ribbon in Word, Excel and Powerpoint 2007

Something on the lines of this

Pic for the extra lazy -

edit -looks like it can be done but needs programming in VB or C#

People really should get used to the Ribbon.
Office 2010 is going to use it - albeit a version that you can customise more.
However not to the point of removing it.

MS's own research suggests 90% of people like the Ribbon, more conservative estimates put it at around 85%.

Most people take one look at the Ribbon and panic.
If however they spend some time with it - give it half an hour and soon you'll find the Ribbon is the best thing MS have added to Office for a long time.

I've used this before to create a Custom Ribbon on a per document basis (if that's what you're after) I'm sure the technique could somehow be adapted to be used across all Excel files (or Word Docs, etc).

More info and examples here...

[Edit] - Just like to add I like the new ribbon, it's a hell of a lot easier to customise (on a per workbook/document/etc basis anyway), uses XML which is really easy to understand and work with.

Why? Is it that hard to just use the new interface?

me - no. other users - yes

Things like the language setting is being removed in Word for some users on Citrix due to having a small display

We can use the QAT for some people which is fine, but if I could add one 'custom toolbar' link on the ribbon then be able to drag and drop stuff to it, then it would be much better for our users. Some only use a few things whilst others use charts and other stuff that takes them 5 clicks to get to (instead of the 2 or 3 before!)

The Office 2007 interface is excellent. I managed to get used to it within minutes and it's a very logical and well thought out design.

Had this conversation at work today, only reason people don't like it is because they are lazy and don't want to learn how to use it.

The ribbon system is much much better than office '03 was.

i like the ribbon, ive no problem with it. a little more customisation would be welcome though:)

This. It can be customised but its not all that easy (and requires Visual Studio)

Like I said before I am fine with the Ribbon. However some of our users are old skool, they also like being able to find certain things easier.

Its not perfect at all. You can't print one page of an email without viewing it in a broswer (just odd or even pages???)

A few other key features are missing from 2007, some there are 'fixes' for, others there arn't. One being the Out of office assistant notification in outlook 2007. I.e, its tiny and not a box in the middle of the screen like it used to be
