Even better if you can't play!![]()
Ruined bodyclock.
I'm on night shift at the moment. Only 6 and a half hours left to go! After tonight I only have 5 more consecutive 12 hour night shifts until I have a day off (we do 7 12 hour night shifts in a row normally)!
can't sleep so i'm haunting the boards, and answering emails etc.
Also trying to decide if it's worth me paying out about £230ish on a (decent) quiet compressor as i'm trying to get into using an airbrush for models (and if I do, is it worth me buying a second decent airbrush).
Ruined bodyclock.
i know what thats like. im on my 10th 12 hour shift on the trott only got 15 left then i might get a day off. or i might end up with more work on a different location lol
what do you do?
stinky, the daft thing is, i've already got a big compressor/air tools (it was a Wolf/powercraft one Aldi's did cheap*, we bought it, some of the tools and picked up more tools on-line) and it's a pretty good one for the price (about £70 with a variety of sprays/cleaners/inflater**).
It's just that it's very, very noisy, something like 97db according to the warning label
The thing that worries me is that the little compressor might not get used much at all, and will cost as much as the big one + most of it's tools just for a bit of peace and quiet whilst using the airbrush.
*The same model (with a different paint job, less included accessories, and a third of the warranty) was being sold by most of the big chain stores/DIY stores for more than we paid(Omega Wolf supplied them under loads of different brand names, at least they did until they went bust a few weeks ago).
**At the moment it's mainly used for tyres (it's really handy having a decent inflater with a long hose), although it helped with some of the diy work we've done around the garage (for example the nail gun worked wonders when we built the new shed from scratch).
Basically our team is a support operation and we look after a bunch of computers, backend systems and load of other electronic equipment. In reality it's not as simple as it could be as we have a big contractor that does a big chunk of our IT stuff for us and we are not all based in the same place. So when something goes wrong that we can't actually do anything about, some things can take a lot longer than they should do to resolve as we have to go various different channels instead of just doing it ourselves.
Night shifts are typically maintenance work and doing jobs which aren't able to do during the day due to access or something being in use. We also look after a lot of people internationally so you have that to deal with as well.
This is actually the first set of night shifts I've done and I'm coping much better than I thought I would do. We get a week off after working the whole week though so I have that to look forward to. Plus we get extra night shift payments, so I'm looking forward to wasting all of that extra money as well!
Because I'm ****ed as a fart.
