Members Market Rule Changes

Ooooh I'll have to look out for some Harry Potter books.

If you're after book packaging it's always worth asking at your local second hand book emporium. Most of these shops do a bit of mail order as well and will be happy to sell you packing materials.

They're also a great place to buy books as well.

Sounds like it could be good, I'll be keeping an eye out for a few books. Although do we really need to quibble over the definition of a book already? Surely we can just let common sense as to what constitutes a book lead us forwards and if that proves insufficient then nail down the particulars....

charity shops are also a awesome place to get great deals on books.

Something I have always wondered about the MM. Are we allowed to sell watches, comics, cameras and camera equipment, musical intruments (eg Synths and drum machine type things)?

I have a few things to sell but was never sure if I was allowed to on MM.. Can somebody clarify this for me. Ta

Considering how strict the MM is you can appreciate people wanting to be clear from the get go.

Well, if we are talking about books......besides text books, fictions, travel or biographies.....

Then strickly speaking Comic books are out, its a weekly produce thing like a magazine, some might argue that it is a continuation of a storyline and when all put together, it is a huge book.

Then there are books that has NSFW material, many Art or Photography books are filled with images that are too risque for under 18's, but they are definitely books even without a single word in them, but then where is the line between art and pornography? (I guess that is a whole other topic all together).

Charity shops are fine.

However some specialist book shops ran by charities are a different matter. They don't pay for stock, don't have to pay their frontline staff (although they often have paid managers) and often only have to pay a heavily reduced rent and business rates.

Fair enough. Comics I would classify as a magazine (because of the print format). Art is allowed, porn isn't. Risque art is allowed as long as it is art first and foremost. I would draw the comparison between films and porn. You can get films that have risque scenes but as long as it is not a porn film, that's fine.

Read the rules, it explains what can and can't be sold.

Much as I enjoy a good argument I don't really see the issue here, a common sense based definition of what is or is not a book would be enough I'd have thought but since the debate is going to happen regardless of this then carry on. :)
