What does the 965 offer over the 955 apart from a default 200MHz for the £60?

Nothing on the face of it. Wait till some reviews come out (havn't looked myself yet) as it may clock better (i.e. 4GHz+). Watch the prices drop on phenom II when P55 and lynnfield come out in sept :D

As posted by lukext, I would wait for the reviews to come out and also for intel to release their i5's before jumping on to this brand new chip.

It is likely to see AMD make a counter attacking move and price drop on their Phenom II range in order to try and price intel's out of their end of the market.

Whoh wasn't expecting these for a few weeks yet. The price here seems a little steep compared to some other sites I have seen, not really sure why though. Will probably get one of these next week :)

Apparently it clocks up to 4Ghz easily and comfortable on a lower voltage on a AM2+ board. So the potential it great on this cpu. Not just a simple stock clock boost :)

I would suggest you wait abit for more reviews though. Prices are likely to come down a bit more in September.

I know. I was going to buy one regardless of price. Just saying that elsewhere it is cheaper and dunno why OCuk has priced it at this price.

seeing it being sold between 180-190 in some places can't link as per forum rules. So it will come down in price and the 955 will probably drop to little over 100 at some point.

Its just hiked as its brand new, just gotta give it time but upgrading from 955 to 965 is a massive waste of money as its max capabilities should be the same as 955 or very little above it.
