I have a bunch of old VHS recordings (old documentaries, MTV etc) I want to archive on the computer. I'd like the best possible quality for a reasonable price. (Under £50 ideally). I looked at Dazzle products but read some poor reviews. I suppose eventually I'll stick the recordings on DVD, but I'm not interested in buying a standalone VHS/DVD combo recorder.

Any suggestions?

We've been using DVD EZMaker USB Gold to capture stuff from an old camcorder.

Very good piece of kit and cheap too (about £40).

Comes with CyberLink Power Director which is pretty good, if a little basic, but plug and play :)

get yourself a TV card that can capture the footage directly from your video.

Then it is all about getting the right software to convert the files into DVDs

I use the s-video connection on the dazzle and the quality is *very* good. The platinum which i have has a built in hardware processor so takes some load off the cpu but the other lower models dont have this, only the platinum version does. And also the Audio/Video are in perfect sync.
