Ive only got 1 preout on my headunit, I thought about Y splitting it however this amp seems to be ok for me.

Its got 1 lot rca input and then 1 rca output if i wish to add a sub later ?!

I have front componants/tweater and then rear 6x9s, im not bothered about the sub for now but would this in theory work? ive not wired anything up yet and I dont want to change my headunit.

thanks

it is stereo isnt it?

•Type: 4/3/2 channel
•4 ohm stereo 4 x 160 watts Max
•4 ohm stereo 4 x 80 watts RMS
•2 ohm stereo 4 x 100 watts RMS
•4 ohm mono 2 x 200 watts RMS
•Max Power: 800 watts

If you only have one preout out though it won't be stereo. It will be mono.

I think he means one pair of pre-outs. As far as I am aware you can get amps that have an input and an output to pass on to another amp, so you should be fine.

One piece of advice, unplug and/or sell the 6x9s, then install a 2 channel amp for the front speakers (or a 4 channel amp 2 of the channels bridged for the sub). it will be absolutely killing your soundstage and muddling it all up.

If the headunit has a set of preouts then you can just use the Y-Splitters before it goes into the amp, works fine, as i do it myself

You lose voltage doing it that way though and it can compromise sound quality.

Using the RCA out on the amp to another amp , but for that kind of money don't be expecting miracles from what it will deliver.

Better option would be to ditch the 6x9s and run that amp in 3 channel mode, 2 up front to your components and bridge the last two to your sub.

Having 6x9s on a parcel shelf and a sub in the boot ruins the sound.

Do you really think suggesting to buy another amp though, when his budget is obviously low in the first place, is going to be a good suggestion?

Lets see. Two amps both cost say £90, that makes £180

One amp plus splitters costs about £93

So thats near enough half what you would pay. I know what i would do if i was on a budget........

not being funny, buying that amp do you think he is after quality?

Therefore what i said will do.

It doesn't matter whether it's a £200 install or a £2k install, 6x9s in the parcel shelf are never a good idea unless all you want is for it to go as loud as you can with the boot open so you can stand round the boot with your mates.

6x9s in the parcel shelf and a sub is even worse. The boot acts as a bass box, so the 6x9s will be fighting against the sub, and in most cases will eventually overheat and fail due to being forced to their limits.

I aint saying that 6x9's are good in the parcel shelf, i know that :p

I am on about Alex_6N2 saying not to use splitters and to buy two amps by the sounds of it....

I think Alex means to buy a 4 channel amp (like the one he suggests above), and bridge 2 of the channels for the sub, and use the other two for the front speakers.

Yeah I have 1 pair pre-outs, Do I split this to make 2pairs then amp the 4speakers for now ?

Im really not that bothered about a sub thats why I want the 6x9s.

Run the RCA cables to the amp, then before you put them in, put the splitters on the end and wire it up like you would if you have 4 RCA cables
