As above is it worth upgrading my BFG 8800GT and if so what is the best bang for buck at the moment? I play games CoD, just like the first person shooters, I am also a pensioner so money is a bit tight at the moment, so looking for a good deal.

What resolution do you game at ? below 1680 x 1050 and it's not worth upgrading just yet, higher than that and it depends on if you have that Q6 at stock or has it been overclocked ?

Budget, resolution used and IQ settings used decide what card is needed.
Also do you feel your current card is too slow for the games you play?

I've got a 4870 1GB and a 8800GT 512 in my second PC, to be honest I’d save your money at the moment, at 1680 x 1050 and below (is that your res?) the 8800 is still a good card, COD 4 and 5 are no problem for it, you'll gain very little noticeable improvement with the 4870 (the 4870 is a great card but I still say save your cash for now)
