Please help!

Over the past 12 months I have been using a BFG 9800 GX2. In the past week it had suddenly failed.

When I boot my PC I get red dots all over the screen then white dots. When I come to the windows loading bar it suddenly freezes then get a blue screen.

I thought it was a driver issue so booted the machine into safe mode and removed the drivers, rebooted the machine and works ok but cannot get past 640x480 resolution. I then put the latest drivers on from Nvidia website and get the same thing happening. Red dots then white dots and then blue screen.

Since I have had the card for just over 12 months it should still be under warranty.

Has anyone got any ideas why this has happened?

sounds like the RAM has failed on the card to me, looks like you will have to RMA it back to BFG

is the GX2 end of life now, haven't seem them about for ages, some people sell them still through, on low stock :P

No, it couldn't be a 285 because that's only a single CPU, it would have to be a GTX295. Which would be nice.

Doesn't work that way, it's replaced by a card of equal or better performance if they have no stock of the same card.

You've not RMA'd much with BFG have you? These guys are superb. If they can't get you what you had, they'll get you much better.

I have indeed actually :D. They most certainly are that, even if it takes Jeff to light a fire under their bums to get a move on.

However, i still don't see them handing out a 295GTX to replace a 9800GX2 unless it was due to some special circumstances.

just say you had 3 monitors to run :D and you want to still run a similar setup..
2xDVI and 1 via HDMI..
unless BFG has a single GPU card with all of these 3 connections available..

I highly dealt you would get a GX2 imo reason why is that i m sure they are end of life like the X2s are might get a referb one

most likey would be a GTX285 cos they are spec wise simpler but not a dual, so I think it would be ethoir a GTX285 or GTX295 (that would be nice) or just a refurb job (as long as it works properly what do you care ? ) I wouldn't
