Facebook a curse not a blessing?

Yep. dont join your work page, keep yourself hidden, don't post stupid stuff.

I can't understand why so many post pics on a works page, where they are blatantly braking rules. It confuses me.

Don't install stupid apps

Do all this and it is great for organising things, keeping in touch with friends who have left the local area and above all sharing photos.

And above all sharing photos.

Prefer to "share" them via my own site instead. That way you have control over them not facebook, either way. I agree with people here, just keep things private, and its a great way to keep up with friends who moved away, or do not use msn much.

Who ever claimed Facebook was a blessing?

Ahem......
The Word of God said:
James, Chapter 1, verses 9 through 15

[009] Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

[010] But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

[011] For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

[012] Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the blessing of Facebook, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

[013] Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

[014] But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

[015] Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth Twitter.

Can't argue with the bible :p

A massive curse. Apart from people becoming socially lazy it's deffo done more harm than good. I don't know anybody who's found all their old school friends actually done anything with them now that they're in "permanent contact".

That's not really the point though.

It was billed when it first came out as a way to get in contact with people from your past among other things. It's very easy to do and its design helps this.

But as you say, without that slight advantage then it's probably doing more harm than good.

Well you do get in contact with them, just not a lot of contact, I enjoy facebook because basically everyone I know uses it to share photos, videos, thoughts and the like and it's nice to catch up with people from time to time, not necessarily to phone them up or see them.

I find it useful, if I make use of it. It's good for providing a trivial way to find and contact people. You still have to make an effort thougg. As with any form of communication.

I agree with that, photos of trips together and nights out are easiest stuck on Facebook for all involved to see. It's a great tool which is easy to use.

But that's why I think it has a strong negative aspect, it's stopped becoming a tool and now people are using too much.

I kind of agree, there are a lot of parts of facebook that have become like ghettos, like fan pages and all those "x is murdering scum" pages full of hate and stupidity.

There's someone I know who has new "going out" photos up almost every day, just seems strange to me that people would take so many photos all the time, I couldn't be chewed. I also get a bit bored of attention whores and people who use "txt spk" in their status messages etc.

People seem to go out only to take pictures.

IT'S SO ******* ANNOYING.

Everywhere you go on a night out you get stupid tarts taking pictures for Facebook. Or stupid kids on trains pretending to pole dance on the hand rails. **** OFF

Don't add any family or people you work with and you're sorted.

Don't see the fuss to be honest - if you get sacked because of Facebook, quite frankly you deserve it because you're probably a total moron!

Playing Devil's advocate here. Surely you can't sack someone because of what they have said outside work? Does this mean if I say my boss is a **** and ******* hate him the gay *****!"%&*&* and gets it on tape it is grounds to fire me? I'd doubt it.

The boss has gone onto a work collegues site and would presumably have to accept whats thrown on there, if he/she is senstive why go on there in the first place other than to snoop?

Its a dodgy area and I dont accept anyone other than loose friends on there, family & everyone from work are excluded even the odd good friend.
