I have just come from XP, so 2 gig seemed fine but i think with Win 7 i might need more not sure ?
Crysis seems to take a long time to load and very stuttery with lots of hard drive activity, Even when running desk top for a while just browsing the internet pages start to load slower ?

So if i got 2 X 2 gig sticks total 6 gig including my current ram, i gather that would be good ?
Also is it better not to play around with the virtual memory ?

Thanks in advance

Am i the only person who has realised 2 lots of two gig ram doesnt total 6 gig ram? but you would be better running the likes of crysis with 6gig but i know you can run it with a 4870x2 and four gig ram like a charm.

6 gig including my current ram

2x2GB = 4Gb + current ram = 6GB

:) lol at the mathmagicians here. ah 2gigs is fine for normal lite use (surfing, office, movie watching) but more is recommended if u are gaming and wanna multitask whilst doing it!

I've been using 2GB with Windows 7, and it's been perfectly responsive, the only reason I upgraded was for performance in games, and having several applications open simultaneously, which 2GB sometimes struggles with.

The more RAM the merrier, I just don't think you'd get much of a benefit over 4GB

I have installed the 64bit version, the memory i want is out of stock so am waiting.

I only use this machine for games so will diffo get more memory then.
I know Win 7 looks like Vista but why do i get so much more enjoyment navigating around 7 ?

gamesaregood, I would certainly hope he is going for the 64-bit version. Otherwise all that memory over 3GB will be moot. 64-bit Windows 7 + all that RAM = smooth.
Really, Windows 7 works just fine with only 2GB of RAM. It works okay with 1GB even. However, the more you give it, the better it will work for you. AshmanUK67, If you haven't gotten the RC downloaded yet, you should do it pretty quick. They cut off the downloads on the 20th of this month. Although it sounds like you already have it going, but I wasn't sure. If you are really anxious to get in on the final, TechNet Plus and MSDN folks already have access to licenses for the Windows 7 RTM (which is basically the final version. For the most of us, we will get it when retail outlets get it, on the 22nd of October.
