The Official Football Manager 2010 Thread

Because I did too much editing of the database for me to change, I was too heavily involved :)
Ah.

If there is a way to transfer saved games over though I'll be annoyed me not knowing about it :)
Not that I know of. Wouldn't have thought it would be possible or ever implemented.

I'll definitely get 2010 though, I'll be getting windows 7 and a maybe upgrading my computer so will feel like its the right time to move on into the future of football manager :)
Well I will certainly be getting both but having just realised the close proximity of release for both I might get both at the same time, or near enough.

Indeed there were a lot of problems :(

I bought it through Steam (first FM that I didn't own the box of :() but Steam has been fantastic, updates are applied and I could play the minute the game was released.
I was thinking about buying through Steam but the price was quite high so I just got mine on release day from Morrisons. The first time I'd ever bought FM on the day and not pre-ordered it.

Had it been £5 cheaper on Steam than it was I might have bought it that way. However FM09 was the first game in the series where you didn't need the DVD in your machine when you played it. Because they linked it to Steam. So you could buy FM09 cheaper in a shop than on Steam, install it, link it to Steam and get the updates the same way. So with the Steam prices being way higher than in a shop or an online shop I couldn't see any benefits to Steam as once you bought the DVD and linked FM to Steam what was the difference in the two purchase options?

I've not tried windows 7, I've herd only good things about it :D
I liked and enjoy Vista, I'm quietly looking forward to windows 7.

I run a quad core, overclocked, a Nvidia 260 (max core thingy) and 4GB ram. Always felt over kill for Warcraft and FM :p

Looking forward to see , like you said, if there is an improvement in speed ect ect under windows 7 :)
Yeah only good things about Windows 7 is what I've ever heard. As I understand it Windows 7 is essentially a massive improvement on Vista. So almost Vista SP3 I suppose. I'm on a quad-core machine as well, 1Gb 4870 and erm 8Gb RAM. :D:o

Yeh I'll just wait til they are both out in the shops and will do a nice install of Win7 then a nice new game of Football Manager to take me to next summer :)
Sounds like a plan. W7 is October 22nd? FM10 October 30th. So I could have W7 installed for FM10.

Oh and what's happening next summer then?

Nothing :p Just I will probably play a game that will last that long.

Will hopefully have a career by then though so could be my last FM game I take serious... until I get my life sorted of course

Only difference was that at midnight, I was starting my first game :p
I really really love Steam like that, I got it a bit cheaper on steam via the "pre order" hope they do the same this time around. Oh and no unlocking problems :o

Loved it, it downloads and installs and just waits until midnight when it's unlocked :p then I get to stay up again and crawl off in time for work or if it's the weekend, sit in my own **** playing all weekend.

Indeed :D I may be able to have a nice fresh install of windows 7 and FM10 :) may have to touch myself.

Ah thought you meant the FM11 demo or something. :D

Not sure an extra £10 was worth the midnight start and the activation problems. :p

Indeed :D I may be able to have a nice fresh install of windows 7 and FM10 :) may have to touch myself.

How much did you pay for the game then ?
I think I paid £24.99 :o
About £27.99 from Morrisons. :D Now that FM10's been announced, officially like, I'll have to keep an eye on Steam and see if I can get it for a nice pre-order. Either that or head off to Morrisons down the road on October 30th and get some lovely French bread. Or maybe Iced buns for the occasion?

;)

I'll send you a picture of the occasion !

I hope they still have an option for the old skin, that new layout looks shocking!

It's possible but I'm not sure, you can still select the FM08 skin on 09 if that's anything to go by. I like the new look though :) and they have said that some of the screens are only work-in-progress.
