This company really is a joke!

Quick summery, I ordered a phone for my wife on Vodafone and gave her PAC to transfer her number from O2.

Phone arrived a day late, but all was there. Installed USIM to be greeted with an inactive USIM message. No problem I thought, it's just waiting for the number port to go through.

O2 phone still active....hmmm odd, so I email mobiles.co.uk and they say PAC went through, but I may have to call Vodafone and get some number from them. Odd again I thought...

So I call Vodafone, suprisingly they have never heared of my wife and thus have no contract set up for her, so I spend TWO hours on the blower getting her PAC and contract set up (on my account at the moment), the USIM is now active and the port will be happening on Tuesday.

However we have to call on said Tuesday to take he number/phone from my account and transfer it to her own with her DD details (that have obviously dissappeared from mobiles.co.uk!).

So Mobiles.co.uk hadn't even bothered to setup a bloody Vodafone contract for my wife on the Vodafone phone and SIM they sold me on a 24 month Vodafone contract!

Unbelivable, a mobilephone selling company that doesn't even set up the contracts they are supposed to set up!

/end rant ;)

Dont be suprised to find that in a few weeks you have 2 contracts setup and 2 DD's etc and a hard time getting them to sort it out.

I had a hero of them the other day, phoned up orange to check and all was as it should have been, ordered one day and phone came the next no issues here but then i wasn't transferring a number.

I can't see how they can set up another contract as I have the SIM code and IMEI registered to my account with her PAC code going live on Tuesday.

So if they try and set up another one surely it would be flagged up as already active?

Probably but i wouldnt put it past them to set a new one up and post you a new sim! when you put chimps in charge of these things you tend to get **** thrown at you :p

if the deal you signed up for was for 11months free then you should get it, or, you should be free to leave the contract.

I ordered the wife a W995 off them.
She did the porting of her number herself.
No problems so far, she's happy with the phone and the contract.
Phone arrived next day and everything appears to be ok with them.

A guy from mobiles.co.uk posts on the moneysavingexpert.com forums and tends to be quite good at sorting out the complaints he sees there. Might we worth registering and having a moan to see if he picks up on it and sorts you out.

I thought the free/reduced line rental by 3rd party dealers was usually done through redemption. E.G post them bills at month 3, 6 and 9 and receive a cheque for the line rental

Mines is done by redemption but you can get a cash offer as well, I could have had £10 cash back or 6 months half price, not 100% sure on this redemption thing as i only get 6 months half price not sure about when to send in etc, will look in to it.

I always check when i get a new phone to make sure they have put me on the correct tariff, just to be on the safe side tbh.

Reason you didn't get the 11 months free - it's done via commission and since they (as in Mobiles.co.uk) didn't set up the contract they can't get the commission to pay back to you.

What you should have done when Voda said they didn't have the contract was to say OK thanks, hang up, and then give Mobiles.co.uk hell. They're acting as your agent, so they should be doing their job.

Have you tried getting hold of somebody at Mobiles.co.uk? It's impossible AND the PAC was about to expire and needed to be used - it was given with a good weeks time left on the mobiles.co.uk website, but as they are useless time ran out.

Anyway I have received an email back and they have said the 11 months free is on my account (after I played hell with them!).

So hopefully they will honour it and so they should do IMHO.
