Thought i'd pop this on everyones radar in case you are in London on Saturday 15th as it's the Barclaycard World Freerun Championship which will be held at Trafalgar Square.

I've managed to get 2 tickets from the online ballot and will be there taking some shots of the action. Is anyone else heading along?

Further details on the official site http://www.worldfreerun.com/

Below is a mock up of the stage area where the athletes will be judged on the day.

Well it looks like no one else went so here are a few of the shots i got and have been mucking around with tonight. Unfortunately I arrived late and was there for about 2 hours before i decided to go for a walk and change my location so imagine my suprise when security would not let me back in as they deemed the venue was too crowded and shut the stairs

Stayed for a bit after that, tried to blag my way into the VIP area with no luck, before getting fed up and leaving as there was no access to the main floor. Very impressed with the athletes but i thought they would have flowed more over the course...not that i could do better. These days even running to catch a bus is beyond me.

I think free running is one of those things that benefits more from video than photos.

You got some good captures, however no 2 looks like he is rest his chin on the wall :)

I agree as well, but I think your photos have gave Freerunning a good chance in the photography world! Some excellent action captures! what lens were you using?

I think there excellent shots ! dont agree totally with the vid only thing, you can get some very artistic and fluid shots from people moving like that! Just watched the replay on BBC3, awesome stuff! defo going next year.

There were quite a few falls and near misses with the flips. amazing ability these guy have.

A few of them look like you photoshopped out the bike. :p

Ha ! they are all processed but only levels, crop, vignette blur and sharpening i promise :D

Thanks, i think you can get some impressive shots, much like skateboarding, but you need to be wider and closer for that impact.
I was using the 100-400 IS on all of these as it was rammed at the front.

Yeah, sign up to the freerunning facebook page and you get a alert to when the ballot starts taking applications.
I got in good and early for tickets but even better if you work for Barclays though as the VIP section had the best views and was nearly empty !

Might have to wear a suit next time to see if i can get in :p

i was watching this on bbc3 yesterday, the lad that won has some amazing upper boddy strenth.
