Cancel your Orange contract now!

Ive just got a message from Orange saying:

Sorry you are leaving us due to the changes we were making...We are not making these changes now and would love for you to stay please call us on 150 then option 4 to talk to us.

LOL heads must have rolled at Orange over all this

WTH, my O2 Simplicity transaction did not track on Quidco, so I tried to submit an enquiry on the day - it said try back on the 14th August. I tried again today and it says wait until September 5th?!

Grrrr

i dont understand how this will work. I got my number cancelled after 3 days so sending a text seems kinda odd.

What a mess this is.

Just phoned orange as my dad wanted to cancel the contract and was told that actually the changes arent going through now so I cant cancel without buying out the contract.

I asked when they will officially tell us this by text or whatnot and they said they are only sending texts to those who have requested to cancel but otherwise the rest of us there will be nothing.

Something sounds fishy to me, they may have deliberately created this confusion, so then come September the effects still come into affect, but those of us who are being told we cant cancel now as they arent coming into effect are basically going to be stuck and unable to cancel as "we had warning" and didnt do anything about it.

Anyone know of a press release or something official stating that they have scrapped the changes?

As only last week my own phone received the text message, so something does not seem right here, they are still sending out the text message saying they are doing changes, even though when you phone them up they say that actually they arent?

Orange Executive Office seem to be confirming that if you asked to cancel before the statement that they will no longer be changing the T&C's, and were refused the right to cancel, that you should still be allowed to cancel as they were in breach of your consumer right to do so. I'm going to phone up tomorrow and see what's what.

My girlfriend had the text message the other day saying about the price plan increase. Will she be able to cancel now if we ring up? thanks.

UPDATE: Spoke to the Executive Office and they're no longer saying this. I asked for a deadlock letter and they refused to provide one as CICA do not deal with this sort of issue (according to Andrew in the Executive Office). I'll be contacting CICA to confirm because I'd much rather a bit of arbitration. Otherwise I'll be sending another letter and then taking legal action. This is becoming awfully long-winded. <sigh>

im still waiting for orange to call me back reference my massive credit ive recieved. they were supposed to call me back today regarding it but as usual they havnt bothered.

obviously they are not bothered that they have messed up.

well I got the payg sim today that I requested on the 1st, going to phone up to double check that I wouldn't be charged for the remaining months etc before registering the payg sim and finalising the cancelation of the contract.

My PAYG sim arrived a couple days ago, i acitvated it without any problem (cancelling the contract with no charges). Today i transfered it to my new orange contract without problem :)

well I phoned up and changed over to payg, will find out in about a week once the final bill arrives if I've been charged anything over the 4days of my current bill period(26th august - 25 september. been told I'd only get charged for the 26th-29th and no charges for the remaining 10months).

once that's been sorted need to decide where to go from here, was thinking about the o2 £20/month 18month simplicity deal when they had the £100 back through quidco (they'll prob have a similar offer around christmas time I'd assume). think I'll stick with payg for the time being, see what phones are released over the next few months before deciding what to do.

also need to make sure the data is turned off on the phone else it'll eat through my credit in the blink of an eye(going to d/l the nodata cab and see if that helps, read on here, modco and xda-developers forums that it should). I had £5/month 500mb data package but didn't really use much of it over the past 7-8months.
