Hi guys,

I'm looking for a place where I can pick up general American groceries like Mrs Dash, Crystal-light and others - does anybody have any idea? Online or otherwise.

Or, does anybody know the English equivalent of the above products?

Thanks a lot. :)

They have got some Crystal Light. Good stuff, thanks. Only one flavour though. Any other thoughts? I've looked in Asda, to no avail. Can't find Mrs Dash anywhere (except Ebay)

We always did big American Soda orders for caffeinated things :D I miss Uni :(

I've not got a clue what Mrs Dash is, how about a rough description of the things you are after?

So you're after dried herbs that can be bought anywhere but you want that particular brand cos it's somehow completely different, and a completely artificial drink with no redeeming qualities as I can see...?

Honestly I don't understand why you can't settle for easily obtainable mixed herbs or even try blending your own, as for the drink it may be a taste sensation I don't know.

If you're after a taste of home I can't help you I'm afraid, if you're just after something similar then just try things, outside of UK supermarkets (because they are generally awful) there's a massive range of products available in speciality or one-off highstreet shops.

The deli on the corner works for me.

 :p

I'm specifically after the Southwest Chipotle flavour of Mrs. Dash. You might think 'just herbs'; but I love the taste and can't find a UK equivalent (ie same taste but no salt). I'm not American so it's not a taste of home; it's just a fact that some countries do better things better.

As for Crystal Light - it's a no carb and no calorie drink which is sweetened with sucralose (rather than aspartame/ acesulfame-k). Sucralose is (apparently) better for you than the other artificial sweeteners, so I'd like to drink that instead. I can't think of a similar product that is sold here? I.e; no calories, no carbs, flavored with sucralose and actually tastes good?

Daft, I know.

What's wrong with salt in a seasoning? A miniscule amount of salt in a bottle of seasoning, that you would only add a small amount of anyway, is hardly going to hurt you.

As for Crystal Light, if you're that bothered about carbs and calories, just don't drink fizzy drinks.

Oh, and does this help?

It's not a fizzy drink, it's similar to Robinsons. I drink a hell of a lot of water in the day, but when I go to the gym I prefer something with a bit of taste.

As for the salt thing - it's not that I'm bothered about salt but all the similar things (colmans cajun mix, schwartz etc) don't actually taste of anything and plain old chili powder is awful too. :p

Yeah I noticed the crystal light stuff afterwards :p

I see what you mean about the spices, I thought you meant you'd found some similar stuff but it had salt in :)
