Forgive me, I am not too clued up on Civic trims. What is better about those cars? Other than age and mileage (which we all know makes little difference to used car ;)). Genuine question, I was expecting a more comprehensive answer than just 10 different cars :p.
 
I haven't a bloody clue, all I know that the majority aren't pov spec, some even have leather and are a good £1000 or more less. I know the executive SE isn't all that executive and it certainly isn't £1000 + better than the cars above.

??? The Executive SE is one of the highest spec Civics..
 
Admitedly the cars you posted might have been a better option, but i still dont necessarily think he's been ripped off. Low mileage and a decent main dealer warranty and it could be about right

Well, probably nothing (even though it is 2 steps up the spec chain according to Parkers). But I expect the car he bought was pretty much round the corner from him, which could have been a big selling point. Plus you can't really tell the condition of that car from dealer photos.

Anyway I wasn't arguing that the car he bought was not slightly overpriced, I was arguing that it's not a fundamentally 'bad' car.
 
I'd rather have a newer car than fuss about ≤ 20k miles. As everyone says, these things will go on forever and ever and will survive a nuclear holocaust so I'm not sure why it makes that much of a difference, as the interiors are known to get crap with age, I'd rather take the newer car. As for warranty, if you're that fussed, you can take out a 3rd party warranty that would probably be better than the dealer warranty. I'm not arguing that it's a bad car, just really crap value for money.

As would many people, but everyone knows a car's value is directly proportional to mileage (all else being equal), so that and other bits might make it an ok deal - not a great one but not a rip off.
There are certainly better cars for the money, whether they're other civics or different models, but I dont think this is a bad buy - certainly not 9k Clio bad

Why don't you? You must get fed up of calling out the RAC and test driving the entire BMW range while your car is in for yet more repairs of yet another service. I know what I want to buy, I can afford it too, I'm just waiting for a good example to pop up and my current piece of crud, which probably has less rust and seen the back of a recovery Van less times than your car, can go on autotrader.

Because I can't afford the only car I wish to replace it with, and frankly, it's a pretty awesome car so I'm more than happy with it until such time as I can afford it's replacement.

FWIW my car has seen a recovery vehicle only once due to breakdown, so there ;)

Well I can tell you, nearly 2 grand in your pocket.

Civics from dealers are insane money, on my wander round dealers the other week, one of them offered to bring over a 52 plate 65,000 mile old CTR for to me look at, and it could be all mine if I paid them 7.5k for it.

Seven and a half thousand pounds? for a 7 year old warm hatch that only cost 16k when new?

I dont think so.
