Successfully Unlocked my Phenom II X3 :D

Got a Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P and a Phenom II X3. Read about unlocking the 4th core and gave it a go in the BIOS under ACC (Set it to Auto).

No luck, so had another read, and updated the BIOS to f2c and also set the EC firmware flashing or something to Hybrid, and success!!

CPUZ shows me at 4 cores, all running swish...

I've never done any OC'ing before so where do I go now? As I say those two options are all I've changed, not fiddled any voltages or anything, also I point out I'm running the stock cooler.

Do I run Prime95 now and check stability?

Keep it at stock and run prime95 to test the CPU for stability since you may have just unlocked a faulty core :)
 
Yeah, to echo what others have said you must stress test it. The fourth core was probably locked for a reason :)
 
I notice in speed fan my core temp is now reported as 0c. According to this page:

How has everyone got around this? Surely any of you lot that have unlocked this last core are also into overclocking it too and will be a bit blind without core temps?
 
Ah a small issue then :D Still test for stability and see what/where you get to. You must be able to deduce that up to a certain vcore and clockspeed your temp would be fine regardless.
 
It's TMPIN 1 on my unlocked 550BE. Thanks for the great tip of using hwmonitor btw, I had resigned myself to not being able to see the temp at all before this :)
