2 of my collegues have took the dive and installed Windows 7 on their work laptops, and its fine :) no compatability issues with any of our applications.

We work in the Voice & Networking arena.

I have a ghost image of my Vista clean install so it wouldnt be too much of an issue if i had to revert back.

What do you think.

Take the dive and stick Windows 7 on or nae?

I do because its Windows 7 and it rules :) I dont because iv only just re-ghosted my laptop and stuck all my programmes back on after my Vista install started Bluescreening :(

I'll do it.

If it's your laptop then go for it, chances are you won't have any problems. If you have any sort of IT support check with them beforehand because I don't think they will appreciate it so much if you start tinkering with company equipment and make more work for them if something goes wrong. It would be polite to ask at least.

We are an ISP/Reseller/Network security/VoIP distributer/support company, me and my collegues are the support department :)

There wouldnt be any fuss about putting this on, aslong as its not buggy with anything we need to use on a day to day basis, my boss and my collegue both have it running fine.

Not to fussed about it expiring next March, thats a good 7 months away and before it expires so I can just back up my data and load my Vista ghost image back up until my company purchase Windows7 which hopefully will be soon after release :)

Yeah im gonna go for it I think, will probably do it within the next few days, i think im going to decide against dual booting the laptop though.

Iv already got Windows7 on my HTPC at home (build 7100).

I have two questions -

1) What build shall I put on my laptop?
2) Im assuming I will have to sign up for a new key? obviously using a diff e-mail address? possibly someone elses name?

Then your mate is the one to tell you all the ins and outs till release date on the 22 october

OK, well I have put Windows 7 on my laptop, I do however have a few issues with it at the moment.

1) Its seems slow! Takes a while to log in, opening firefox takes ages! Running Windows7 64-bit.

Intel T3200 Dual Core
2GB DDR2 PC6400 RAM

Setup a good 2GB Pagefile on my D: drive and about 1GB on my C: Drive

2) Outlook 2003, im connected to an exchange server, when I perform a send & recieve, recieving seems to be ok but trying to send, it gets to about 60% and gets stuck every time.

Yo Nath,

I didnt get prompted to install any drivers as Windows 7 install seemed to include all drivers I needed.

Will have a look later. The issue with outlook seems to be ok now, its not freezing up, however it takes a while to open up firefox however IE8 seems to load pretty much instantly...Shame I dont use IE much though :p

Why are you running 64bit with 2gb? Of course it's going to be slow with only 2gb.

I have 32bit win7 on my laptop with 2gb ddr2 5300 and a core duo 1.6ghz and it flies

I have never had any speed issues when running a 64-bit OS on 2GB? I thought the difference was that 32-bit didnt support 4GB and that 64bit uses a tiny bit more RAM.

My PC at home is running exactly the same install with 2GB, only difference is my pc at home has an AMD X2 4200+ chip instead of an Intel T3200, and this is fine? never had any problems.
