Right,

a client said he wanted xp installing on his machine because he was sick of Vista, fine so i went to install XP, the computer is an Aspire e700 Desktop, a generic powersupply fitted, no on or off switch in sight, so as soon as i plugged it into the wall, and turned on the power, it went pop!

So i order a new motherboard as nothing was powering up so i figured its the board, the board i ordered was an Abit I-45c, it turned up today i install the board.

HDD's spin, DVD Drive spins up, CPU fan spins up... but no beep and no display?

Ive tried a graphics card, and ive tried on board VGA still nothing...im really tearing my hair out!

Also, ive taken out of chassis and im powering out of the box, still nothing...(thought it could be a shorting problem)

It couldn't be the CPU Could it? would a surge kill the CPU and the Board?
