Hi, I've been on a bit of a health kick recently after moving into 'overweight' category of BMI. I've been going the gym about 3 times a week for a month and I'm astonished at how my body has responded for such little effort. I've also been watching what I eat a little more. :)

I lost 3% body fat in a month and I'm now 16.2% which is well within healthy - yay me.

My heart rate is 49 beats per min, not sure what it was before I started but I reckon it must be an improvement on before for sure.

What's your heart rate (i.e. beats per minute)?

I miss cookies and cake though. :(

Your resting heart rate is 49? Are you near death or something? :p
That sounds awfully low for a resting heart rate.

Also how are you calculating body fat %?

I presume you mean resting heart rate?

There was a thread on this not to long ago. Mine is generally around 55, but it's not a very good indicator of CV fitness. You'd be better off looking at your recovery rate; the time it takes you to recover from exertion to rested rate; this is a very good indicator of your fitness.

I did mean resting heart rate, I've not measured recovery rate I'll give that a shot next time.

The body fat is measured at the gym with a weighing scale that also has what I assume to be a bioelectrical impedance device built-in.

Low forties, Taken by a Lovely ambulance women twice as she didn't believe it the first time.
I am either uber fit or nearly dead. :D
Ambulance women reckons the guys that do the tour de France are low forties.

lance armstrongs is like 32

Mine is below 50 since starting cycling a lot again and is slowly getting even less

Blimey 32 is only 1 beat every other second (or there abouts). Now that is efficient.
Still happy with my low forties though, Not bad for an old Dude.

mine seem to jump a lot some times it shows 100 and others it be 79 some times its in the 60s the hospital do have trouble picking it up sometimes they get no reading at all

So is it a case of a general rule of thumb being low heart rate = healthier heart as it doesnt have to work as hard to get the oxygen round the body etc...

I've always been a bit worried about my mrs' heart rate as I swear her resting is 70/80 :/

Doctor's never said anything about it other than she does have slightly raised blood pressure so I try not to dwell on it that much but it is worrying none the less.

When I didn't need a pacemaker it was 44, but I have to have a pacemaker for my heart to beat now, it is 60 unless I am doing something. 31 years old with a old mans heart, hehe. Got my pacemaker freshmen (9th grade) year of highschool, not sure when my partial heartblock became a full heartblock.

33 years old, 67kg.
