If you got given £10,000 to spend on a custom pc. Not allowed to spend on anything else. I am meaning a complete FULL system, monitors speakers and other stuff like gamepads are allowed.
I got asked if i could make a system useing all £10k. I couldnt even come close.
How would your £10k system look? you dont need to give tonnes of links and stuff, just describe how it would look and what would be inside it.

3 thousand on a quadro fx5800
1200 apiece on two nehalem xeons
400 on an intel motherboard
800ish on ecc ram
Two 24" monitors at another thousand

7.6k down, around a thousand on water cooling it, the rest on ssds and a raid 5 card.

I would then be angered that I couldn't fit a waterblock to the quadro.

upgrade my current spec, and save the rest for a car

edit; well if your not allowed to spend it on anything else..suppose id go to watercooling my rig then.. but i doubt that would take 10k, so new rig time:D

That's with only 2x30'' monitors and Z5500 speakers, I could instead go with 2x 58'' tv's and a 10k+ sound system...
And these are no ''pro'' gpu's but actual gaming gpu's :), everyone can stack up quattro's :p.

snowdog LAMO at 2 mars editions 295GTX i think 1 of them is probably more powerful than the whole pc put together...like the system a lot!

I'd get a couple of 30 inch monitors, those are about a grand each. Then I'd build a high-end system for about 2-3 grand. Then I'd have 5 grand left to.... save for next year?

I'd probably try to get it silent and cool, by installing it in a fridge. I've wondered for a while if it was possible to use a fridge as a place to store your PC...

billysielu i think your on to something there....spend rest of the money designing a ice cooled pc? or a case what freezes itself?

well if you're going to include a screen and speakers then I'd be tempted to pick up a 46" LED samsung screen for use as a monitor and a Void Stasys setup for the sound... maybe even go for triple screen...As for the spec, nothing silly, as it will date much faster than a screen or speakers...

if i had 10k to spend on a computer id spend 2.5k on a top new rig and save the rest for future upgrades because in six months there will be new cheaper hardware that beats the stuff that cost $$$$ now..............

lol, I have no idea of the bes way to spend (e.g. would a standard motherboard be good, or get one with space for two CPU's...don't know)..... but I could easily spend 10k !
all of those SSD's in raid mount up, and all those super expensive RAM modules with an extra 1mhz for extra £100 mount up..... basically, just going overboard on everything (biggest case, extreme edition I7 :eek , lots of SSD's, uber watercooling stuff, pre-overclocked GFX cards.... you'd be surprised how quickly 10k gets used up

Just off the top of my head,

30" monitor; 2 Asus Mars; 12gb ram; desk; case - maybe Lian Li super tower; top of the range surround speaker set up; i7 best mobo and cpu (sod the money!:D); cpu cooler like noctua for example; SSD intel or samsung raid 0; Win7 and then I start to struggle to think of anything else. Not sure how much that lot is but I reckon 6 - 7 k so far.

Mine what be similar except I'd replace the Quadros with 2x GTX295s and then do the same again, so I have two rigs :)

Couldn't ever spenf 10k on one PC, I'd rather build/buy:

A NAS box (5TB maybe?)
A small low power HTPC with mid range AV gubbins - LCD TV, Amp/Speakers etc
An i7 gaming rig (single card, 4890 maybe?) with maybe a 24" monitor and a budget amp/bookshelf speakers.

That would kit a house out quite nicely!

...why would u have 10k to spend on a system, 2k is enough to get the best comp u can get, maybe more.
if you want the best tho:
3x 285gtx
core i7 965
Asus P6T7 WS Intel X58
best ram kit avail and perhaps 3 28inch monitors plus a racing setup then ye thatd be nice. if u wanna wait for directx11 then wait for some awsome new gcs. but if i had 10k id save for a renault clip sportv6 2001 :D (damn i want that so badly)

have fun!
