Because she's 12 and will appriciate it more. And making someone happy is always a nice feeling.

That means she will outgrow anything you buy and doesn't require being "fashionable" sounds like a waste of money to buy a 12 year old london fashion shop clothing. At least i think thats what you are talking about?

Depending how much the trip is going to cost, how about putting part of the amount in your daughter's saving account. No doubt grandma will be equally pleased.

Clothes are always useful but I didn't necessarily mean fashion closthes per se. She may outgrow the clothes, but the excitement and experience of going to London and splashing out will take much longer to fade.

You jest, 2 days is at least £100 per day.

Cost there and back is £100 each.

£400 easy.

You never said where you lived. For all I know, you could live 30 mins by train away. Make sure you get 2for1 attraction entries etc from the net or newspapers. You also get them if you travel by train there.

Just keep in mind that the weekend should be all about your daughter and how best to make her happy. Use the funds to best support this goal.

I am 49.

It's about time i paid for my own holidays, even tho i had my daughter at a later date.

And i can afford it myself.

Your mums offering to pay and I'm assuming she roughly knows your financial status so I think it's a very kind gesture from her that should be accepted

i partly agree with oxygene, but i'd probably also buy something for the mother, it's her money but it's still a present so she'll be happy with that.

I agree, perhaps a nice scrapbook/photo album with a personal touch of the kid enjoying the day out for the mother?

That way she's treated your daughter, knows you both had a great time and knows you are both very grateful.
