Best Motherboard for i7

Bloodrage.....superb board ;)

It's not that good that you'd overlook the fact that it only has 3 RAM slots. Any future RAM upgrade beyond 6Gb will require all-new RAM. That's a fairly hefty compromise, surely, for such a pricey board?

Yes but do you nned more then 6 GB of RAM - I think it is enough for a while.

Yes, and what's the Unique Selling point to justify the very high cost over other boards that have 6 RAM slots?

It doesn't have one, which is why I don't think you can call it the best motherboard for i7.

Sorry, but this is how I see it;

Proven overclocker
Solid feature set (incl. SLi)
Reasonable price

Now, the only boards I know of that fully meet those criteria are the Gigabyte GA-X58-UD3R and the ASUS P6T Vanilla. The bloodrage is a good board, but it's pricey, has a very different BIOS and only has 3 RAM slots, for no good reason anyone can make out really except it helps it overclock better. That's too much of a compromise for me. And it will be harder to resell than a Gigabyte or ASUS.

Biostar x58? It's a better overclocker than my brother's ud3r using the same chip.

Edit: just saw your previous post. It does have one or two niggling things as you mentioned but nothing that detracts it from it overclocking ability. At its previous price point, it was hard for it to compete with the likes of the UD5 in terms of brand name etc but at its current price, there's no reason not to go for it. As I said, I find mine a lot simpler and generally better at overclocking that my brother's UD3R
