dont quite understand the WT and BT just yet. I know I can kill the red dragon with a million arrows though so will give it a go :D

WT effectively works on a scale as follows:

+3 - Pure White
+2 - White
+1 - Neutral
+0 - Neutral - Default Starting point
-1 - Neutral
-2 - Neutral
-3 - Black
-4 - Pure Black

Your actions in each world will have an effect on the WT like so:

* Killed by an enemy in the area while in Body form. (-1 )
* Suicide in Body form (-1)
* Kill Body Form Miralda (-3). (Even if they attack you) (once per game)
* Kill Body Form Satsuki (-3). (Even if they attack you) (once per game)
* Kill Old King Doran (-3) (once per game)

* Kill a boss in your own World with your body (+1)
* Kill a boss in your own World in soul form (+1)
* Defeat Black Phantom Miralda. (+3) (once per game)
* Defeat Black Phantom Scirvir. (+3) (once per game)
* Defeat Black Phantom Lord Rydell. (+3) (once per game)
* Defeat Black Phantom Satsuki. (+3) (once per game)
* Defeat Black Phantom Selen. (+3) (once per game)
* Defeat Primeval Demon. (+3) (once per world per game)

* Suicide in Nexus in Body Form. (+0)
* Suicide in Nexus in Soul Form. (+0)
* Suicide in Soul Form. (+0)
* Get killed by enemy in Soul Form. (+0)
* Get killed by a Boss in Soul Form. (+0)

As you can see (hopefully) it is fairly easy to get a world to Pure Black by repeatedly dying while in body form, whereas it is a lot harder to get a world to Pure White. As you can fight (and more importantly loot!) both the phantom and body versions of some of these NPCs, I find it a lot easier to get a world to Pure White and get all the items that are only available in that WT before doing what it takes to get the WT to Pure Black. One tip I've found that makes getting to Pure White a hell of a lot easier is to suicide in the Nexus whenever you have killed a boss (as you risk moving towards Black if you die in body form while in a world). Doing this I've managed to get most of my worlds to Pure White in NG+ which has allowed me access to a bunch of items I missed in my original game. :D

I'm not entirely sure how online interactions affect WT or even if they do, so have left them out, but theres a possibility that repelling invaders or helping out as a blue phantom may change WT.

hot diggity damn that was tough but i made it back phew! i was wandering about 2-2 fell down some ledges.. Had long fights against some annoying giant bumblebees (im hardly doing any damage even with magic weapon spell) But anyway i got lost but i had around 9k in souls so damnit i didnt want to lose em. i fought my way to the bottom and i think theres a boss beyond fog maybe? i make my way back up again and run past some exploding will o the wisps and yay i recognise the big platform thingy so i can make it back to the archstone.

coupla things - i need a better weapon - i think i can get a better spear soon hopefully :D How far do i need to upgrade magic so i can memorize more than 1 spell? Weirdly i didnt bump into any black phantoms this time. I mustve been a couple of hours at least down there... btw watch u dont fall coz of dodgy camera angles ehh

p.s. i look at the world tendency piccies but i dont know when a world is neutral white or black? is there only 3 phases it moves through? Do we have pics representing each of the WT ? :)

You must have missed the dragon sword surfer also the arms of god, which are after the 1st big bugbear in that tunnels, think i do about 53 dmg when 2 hander the spear on those big bugbears with magic weapon applied, as for magic its 10=1 14=2 18=3, 24=4 etc etc

Most of the higher level ones (i.e. Thirst) need 3. Just keep ploughing souls in to your magic stat.

Once you've killed a phantom, its gone. Also some spells need more than one magic slot in order to be equipped.

Pure Black will be the same colour as the broken pillar, and Pure White looks exactly the same as Neutral except the middle of the pillar has a slight pinkish glow.... so its not awesome at letting you know ata glance what WT your world is at! ;)

As there are set NPCs and unblocked routes which are only available in Pure Black or Pure White, I find it easiest to get a world to one of these stages and then have to compare that pillar colour to the rest.

For example:

World 1-1:

If the WT is Pure White you'll fight the body form of executioner Miralda.
If the WT is Pure Black you'll fight the black phantom version of Miralda.

World 2-2:

Pure White - You'll be able to talk to Wanderer Scirvir who'll give you a pure greystone if you show him Keel Smasher. (Right hand path, about halfway down the pit near two crystal geckos)

World 2-3:

Pure White - The left hand path will be unblocked which leads to the sword keel smasher.

World 4-1:

Pure Black - Black phantom Satsuki will be near the entrance to this level

World 5-3:

Pure White - Return after defeating this boss and you'll fight a black phantom version of the knight protecting her.

There are plenty other things that change when a WT is Pure White or Pure Black but all of the above you can usually spot within a couple of minutes of loading a level and are the most efficient ways (for me at least) to tell if a world is Pure White or Pure Black. :)

I'm assuming it's not possible to go to pure WT when all the boss's have been defeated already, as I think I have WT on world 2 but as I've killed everything there's no way to get pure WT :(

CT looks easier to obtain so I'll do that so I can get the two rings (friend & foe) and do the WT on my next playthrough.

Thats what I am confused about?

How the hell I get pure white if I have killed the bosses but died quite a few times (lol) in between them. For every boss I kill I have probably died about 4-5 times.

Bahh just died in part 3-2 at the boss and was in human form as well :(
Had 1 down to about half, got charged while attacking the other 1 and didnt get back on my feet soon enough to miss the attack of the 2nd.

I think the first three worlds are still pure White. Manage to kill the boss on 3.1 last night looking at having a go at the boss on 2.2. The spear is working better with my character, a test will be seeing how much damage it does against the monsters in 2.2... Long live knight Payday..

You'll only suffer a hit to WT if you die in body form. As long as you aren't rezzing yourself, death in soul form won't affect your WT. The tactic I'm using atm is to suicide in the nexus everytime I am resurrected, as this ensures any deaths (and lets face it, it will happen!) won't affect my WT.

Yeah, unfortunately I don't think there is a way to get a world to Pure White if you have killed all the bosses in a world. If you do have a boss left you would have to kill a black phantom npc, a primeval demon and then the boss. Considering the specific black phantoms npcs only appear in Pure Black, even if you killed a phantom and a primeval demon you would be be one level shy of Pure White.

Yep looks like I'm going to have to aim for the WT in my 3rd playthrough, oh well nvm.

On a different note has anyone managed to cross the lava in 2-2 (where all the bugbears are)? and if so what is the best equipment. Looking at what I have King Doran's armour has a high fire resistance but I really don't want to go through killing all the bugbears only to instant death in the lava.

Well it doesnt kill you *instantly* i'll say that but it does kill you and i think i had on the flame res ring (not sure if the flame resistant shield helps) I was down there hunting for that dragon sword and dodging those giant bugbear things. I died before i could pick up the item unfortunately.

Perhaps water veil would help as well?

Problem is with 2-2 theres items on ledges that i wonder how the heck i get to without flying to them. Secondly when you start the initial descent down into the pit (its a long way) if there are no msgs left by other players on exactly where to drop off then it is easy to fall to your death. :(

It wasnt really a successful trip so i had to go back to 1-1 1-2 to get more souls as i was seriously low on any healing stuff.

The WT thing i'll just leave alone until ive completed the game - seems a bit too complicated for me :D (e.g. i died twice and rezzed myself twice and WT hadnt changed? Does it change in the same game?)

Should i keep going with 2-2 or head back and do 1-2 tower knight?

or even head along to 3-1 or 4-1? how are they?

Depending on your lvl i can alway lend a hand, help you find the dragon sword etc etc, if you want old spice ( mana recover item) then farm 3-1, think at 1 point i had 50 of them from 2 runs, they only problem is that you need to be fast in killing the mindflayers, or what i would call mindflayers.

Haha, some little idiot tried to invade my world whilst I was in 1-4. He didn't expect the Death Cloud :p.

youll be glad to know i made it back alive with my 14k. I half expect to get invaded any time ime loaded down with souls. Got most of the treasure from 2-2 finally. Bah that dragon sword doesnt even look too good. Hands of god are sorta magic gauntlets though so they should help against those damn bugbears :D Level 28 after all that jeez lol

the dragon sword is magical, not sure of it lower end stas but it at lvl 3 according to the staus report my right hand has 238 attack, 119 attack and 119 fire attack.

Edit: and since its magical its good for the phantoms and those blue eyed, red eyed 1s as well.

I have a level 27 soldier using the dragon sword +3 and can take out the miners in 2-1 with one swipe, so it's a pretty good sword once upgraded :)

Leave the bug bears until have the soul sucker spell. I farm 2-2 and come out with 80-90K of souls in a couple of minutes, get 18,000 souls from the large bug bears.

Im getting around about 1.9k with the avarice ring using a spear on the big bears.

Hate running into them in the tunnels, and the lava area is a nightmare. That's why I want to be able to move on the lava so I can just run round zapping them all, will have in cleared in under a minute and bag 100K of souls :)

Is that thirst + ring of avarice (think thats the right ring)? Think I used my Yellow Demon's Soul to get the Meat Cleaver so I may have to purchase thirst on the NG+.

I am actually :D. Quite like helping people on this game so I was quite disappointed that I couldn't, plus joining your game would have been a welcome change from getting my ass handed to me by the blue dragon on 1-4.
