That's a lovely car, cracking example for the price, assuming there isn't anything wrong with it. I think the saloons are much better looking cars from the side/rear than the hatches, they just have a bit of style and class I think the hatch lacks.
You paid basically the same as I got for my ST220 in part ex for the Jag in July, I had an Ink blue ST220 saloon. I miss it too in some ways, I don't miss the interior though, it's not bad by any means but wasn't really up-to what I was already used to. Great engine, great handling, great noise! ...it's just such a positive and nice car to drive and really good steering for a front wheel drive car. None the less though, it isn't very difficult to get those front wheels squirming under the pressure, it can make a quick get away a bit of a pain at times, the torque limiting in 1st and 2nd gear used to annoy me too. Well 1st I could live with, not really an issue, but in 2nd it was frustrating at times.
I had issues with the 'plasticness' of the interior, the buttons on the steering wheel were shocking, and they had no illumination

...bear in mind I came out of a late model BMW 330CI and into the ST220 and was used to a rather higher standard of fit and finish and attention to detail on the interior. If you can get past this, which if you were driving a Clio I am sure you will have no problems doing so, then it's a great car. A hidden gem really, well not so hidden on these forums, everyone seems to have one now

...but there is a very good reason for that. What a great noise they make though, around 4krpm they make the most wonderful burble, it's quite distictive, really good.
I wish I could have been happy with the interior, but it bugged me, I felt I'd traded down (I had though, so no surprise there) ...the car just lacked something for me, it didn't feel special, no x factor about it at all really, other than the noise it made.
Mondeo or not, they do look quite striking, especially in performance blue, although I still prefer Ink blue myself.
Nice car, good buy
