PSP Go UK pricing revealed......WTF !!!11!!1!

I still can't believe the PSP GO is a real thing. It just doesn't make sense. Why not just build a whole new hand held and make that one your download only psp.

The only reason I see Sony putting this out is to try and stop piracy. If new games just come out on the PSP GO, how will people rip the games? You can't or it would be as easy as ripping a umd.

Also if all games become download only and only for the psp go. They have just kicked everyone who owns a PSP (normal) in the nuts.....

I can only see that they will have to do download and UMD.

Well they are proposing a UMD transfer device, which is nice. Plus the 360 is rapidly going in a direction where having a HDD is pretty much essential. Getting memory into an old style PSP is much cheaper than it is for a 360!

It also would have been madness for them to have announced the Go as a new hardware standard (including things like 2nd stick etc) with them throwing massive support behind it (new games, 80% off dev kits). With the massive take up in Japan, they're going to support that new user base and try and replicate it in the West. Superceeding the machine would have alienated that new audience big style. Also, would they be able to get the devs on board to code for the new machine or the old one?

if they fix is so you can actually use the thing as anything but a mirror during the day i'll be happy.

So, for an extra £119 over the PSP3000, the Go gives you the following features:
A smaller form factor.
A smaller screen.
No UMD drive.

Sorry if I'm not really seeing the attraction here.

Its 40% lighter and 50% smaller, the buttons and analogue sticks have been improved and in general feels better to use/less cramped, these are from most hands on reports about the device, you can also use a DS3 controller with it in games that support it via bluetooth. Not saying in anyway that accounts for the high price but only listing cons does not give a true picture of the device.

It also kill off the 2nd hand games market and they can fix the price seeing how its all done online.

Well its nice, well not really that Sony have announced the RRP for the PSPgo its £225, hopefully this will lead it to be around the £200 it many retail places, still £25 more than i will pay for it. You do get GTPSP for free if you purchase in the 1st week or so, may make it more tempting for some.

Why is anyone going to undercut the RRP by £25 on a brand new premium product? I Doubt the RRP will be £225 now anyway. How can they have the RRP of the PS3 and the PSP differ by only 25 quid?

The supermaket still has in for pre-order for £200, as for PS3/PSP price totally different one is a games console the other is a handheld. Much like the DSI RRP is only £25 less than Wii RRP.

When I heard about this I was really interested and hoping to get it as a christmas prezzy off the rents. Now however I am failing to see the attraction. I never catch public transport as I drive myself everywhere so I don't really see the point of having a handheld to use in the house when there's a 32' HDTV, a gaming PC and a 360 sat right in front of me.

With graphics that don't even match up to the PS2, we are talking more than 8 years of graphical developments that the PSP hasn't caught up on. I know games aren't all about the graphics but with me I prefer something pretty to look at as it helps draw me in much easier. Also, sports games on the PSP have been a huge disappointment for me, not to mention the continued lack of a second analogue stick. Sony clearly aren't very good at listening to their fans. I'm sure a LOT of people have asked for either analogue buttons a la the dual shock, or at least a second analogue stick. We've had 4 iterations now of the PSP if you include the GO! and what improvements have been made?

So far I believe we have had extra ram, slightly faster CPU, a smaller form factor and an improved screen? And especially in the case of the PSP 2000 and 3000, the only difference was an improved screen. I think that's ridiculous, Instead of churning out a flip out PSP, Sony should have instead worked on things that the majority of fans really want.

Arent they working on a proper PSP2 anyway? Am sure the original PSP is like 4 years old by now. It looked cool, if it was £179 bundled with GTP I'd probably do an impulse purchase but thats taking it a little into the daft margins, especially at the price point of that PS3 slim.

I hope so. I mean, It's not as if I don't enjoy the current PSP games because I do, but really I think we should be getting something a little more technologically advanced. If the best that handheld gaming can produce is a Playstation 1.5 experience then I'll probably leave the portable gaming scene for a while.

GT is free if you buy by the 10th October and register it online.

Its the UMD issue that is still the deal breaker for me. If there isnt a way to put UMD's on to it then I am not interested. I am not paying one set price for all my games with no possibility of finding games cheaper from another site.

I would say it's more like PS 1.85+ these days, games like Tekken, Daxter, Soul Calibur and LBP look extremely good, in some ways they are better than the PS2 experience.

Even though the PSP is 4 years old now I have been impressed with a lot of the recent titles and how graphically advanced they are, the PSP just seems to lack the kind of games that the DS does, fun little pick up and play games. Hopefully the new PS store will make things like this easier.

I dont think that PSPGO will be a hot selling product , first due to it being revamp PSP, second its all the same old sh.... PSP with all same games and third its high price tag.
