District 9 review...it's looking good... **SPOILERS**

Just come back from the cinema after seeing this - bloody fantastic film. For the first 15-30 minutes I couldn't tell where the film was going, but it didn't dissapoint. Great CGI, good plot and fantastic setting.

How long till this is in UK cinemas? i'm gonna go watch this for sure.

Ok, just read it's Sep 4, a while yet, damn.

Looking forward to seeing this, might even make the special trip to Manchester to see it at the printworks rather than my small town cinema.

Also - rather annoyed I didn't get to comment in the "District 9 is racist" thread (and I hope I don't get in trouble for mentioning it) but from what I gather about the movie it's not a racist film, it is a film with a subconscious part highlighting the racism running through it?

I think the people seeing this as a "Racist film" are just taking it totally the wrong way and think really it's promoting the fact that it is stupid (However I have not seen the film yet, these are only my initial feelings from reviews / trailers - it may change!)

The subtext is actually about immigration, not racism. The aliens are seen as illegal immigrants who live off society without contributing to it.

I'm amazed that it's been released in Australasia before the UK!

Trailers look good; I'll watch it despite the South Africans and their excruciatingly horrible accent.

Ah, well from the trailers and pieces I have read this is what I got from it - I looking forward to seeing it, hopefully it is a thoughtfully put together film.

It's about time the arse end of the world got something before everyone else :p

That does look really good on the trailers, do like the immigrant slant on it, should play out really well and be just a touch different to the usual alien invasion film.

went to see it last night (it's been released in New Zealand already), it was a good change from recent over the top action films (it still has it's share of explosions though) and I really enjoyed it. Only advice would be to avoid if you don't like south african accents!
