RX8 Running Costs

'Blatantly false'?

I'll leave you with a quote from Housey a few weeks back:

Handling is subjective, therefore an opinion on handling cannot be 'blatantly false'. Misguided? Perhaps. Blatantly false? Not really, no.

"My 1.2 Polo handles much better than your 350Z DO NOT DISPUTE ME IT IS SUBJECTIVE!!!!" :p

How many of you have driven either 330 or RX8 hard (on a track) to give fully educated opinons on the handling of either car?

Becuase from my experiance driving both on our roads I only really found the diffeances to be to do with the suspension (RX8 was a firmer ride) other than that in regards to handling I didnt get enough of a differance to say "THIS CAR IS SO MUCH BETTER LOLZ"

No, as i know my clio handles better than a nissan gtr :D

Then you are deluded the 330Ci is NOT a good handling car!!! Its teh crapor, cos DrDee once borrowed his mates and it sucked.

lol indeed. During the test drive I found myself in several ditches :( It leaves a path of destruction where ever it goes!

To be honest I'm just biased, I mean the 3 Series is not reknowned for being much of a drivers car really, most people who are more objective than myself realise the handling is rather poor.

well i guess i went from the best - to not the best. i didnt set out to buy a car to be a rwd handler... but if your now trying to attack my credentials to deflect your own shortcomings of analysis - thats fine i can take that.

just because my dd is a bit rolley in the corners doesnt mean that i dont have multiple track days worth of experience driving porsches, caterhams, JAG XKR, jag lp300, clio cup race cars, single seaters etc...

again im not sure why you are trying to discount my opinion - instead of just answers the charges that have come in your direction.

i also have subsripction to evo for the last 2 years, they tend to give good advice, have their own test track. i am just trying to help other forum users, not bash them.

I own neither an E46 330Ci Sport

you own a beemer 530 and dont let us forget it right?

Not rising to the bait of criticising my car, denied :p

I'm not trying to bait you, its just something that I feel, that these sport spec BMW's are so over rated on these boards.

LOL WUT? Is this something I missed?

It is not good compared to the RX8, which is a brilliant handling car! Stop being jealous of the RX8 and its genuine sportness sport spec specificationer.

Not really, I rarely bother mentioning my own car and I hardly compare other cars to mine unless its relevant. I think the thread about RWD cars above where the OP specifically mentioned the 5 is the first time in weeks where I have.

The only reason you 'dont forget it' is because half the forum is obsessed with reminding me what car I drive even if I'm discussing ideal flavours of porridge and because its in my sig.

Not once in this thread have I drawn comparison to what I drive.

And yet you yourself have admitted several times you dont actually know if you've ever driven one or not.

I'd personally be inclined to say MX5's are a bit over-rated, for example, the way everyone bangs on about what, on the surface, is cheap and nasty old Japanese droptop that rots a lot but as I've not actually driven one myself I appreciate that I don't really have the full picture so never voice that opinion.

you should really try to test drive an MX-5 and a new MR2...give you a varied opinion and find out why people love them so much. im not saying put it on the motorway and 1/4mile drag a GTR... but they are fun, nimble, low power so low chance of binning youself..

I appreciate the merits of the MX5. I've even praised them in previous threads. My point wasn't that the MX5 was crap, which it isnt, but that its easy to think something is over-rated until you've experienced it properly.

I'm 99% sure I drove a 330i sport, I see no reason why the guy would lie and it looked the part, but then I would not know for sure because I do not know what the exact differences are.

And while the mx5 is cheap and nasty in comparison to say, a 530i, and the early ones have been known to rot, that does not mean it does not excel else where and make it to number 9 of Evo's best 100 drivers car.

Being bad at something or at least, not as good as something, as another car does not make that car bad over all. It is you who keeps claiming I have called the 330i crap when I haven't, its just no where near as good handling wise when it comes to the RX8. I am sorry to be the one to break it to you but BMW's sports department does not transform the car completely by adding on the sports spec, as much as you love your BMW sports they do not handle fantastically compared to other cars, much like the mx5 is cheap and nasty compared to other cars.

You don't see me jumping in and defending the mx5 every time its japaneseness is called out, yet you seem to be trying to defend sport spec handling BMW's as if they are amazing, when its perfectly OK that its not amazing in this area.

they do not handle fantastically compared to other cars

I'm done arguing with you about this now. We clearly disagree and have reached an impasse. In closing, I will state that the BMW 3 Series Coupe is known to be a good handling car and in my opinion is a credible alternative to an RX8 worthy of consideration by the OP.

re MR2 looking uggers:

i think that IS subjective...

the engines hemmo. oil thats fact.

but they are great handlers with great stiffness and rigidity..genuine MR sports car. of an old school ilk.

Done getting owned more like!

I completely agree that the BMW 3 Series Coupe is known to be a good handling car and in my opinion is a credible alternative to an RX8 worthy of consideration by the OP, however, it does not handle as well as the RX8 by a fair bit.

lol wut?

Repeating your opinion over and over and over does not equate to 'owned' in my book. We get the message, you don't think some 3 series (which may or may not have been a sport) handles anywhere near as good as an RX8. Thanks for the info.
