I'll stick with MPC for everything barring blurray/dvd and hddvd discs but that''s rare these days as I just rip everything to the hdd for media sharing on the LAN
Yeah there is no way in vlc to switch decoder like you can in MPC. I use EVR output and disabled internal decoding so divx7's hd codec decodes .264 video
Got this yesterday. Quite happy with this release. Can now press the play button and be able to play a DVD as I used to be able to but it was removed from VLC a few releases ago. No idea why it's a brilliant feature.
Weird, I took it out and tried other DVD, it played ok. So I returned the same DVD back and it played! I think I was installing VLC while DVD was sitting in the drive so it probably needs to be ejected first then insert it back after VLC installation is completed.
